Raspberry Pi with Tankstick or Xtension Controller?

Looking to build a full size arcade using one of these controllers.  Specifically with the trackball. Anyone know how this works with the Pi using an Retropie?

The Tankstick really isn't the best choice as the parts and build quality are "eh". It would be better to get some proper parts and build a control panel yourself. Btw the trackball acts as the mouse.
