Sometimes, a buddy seems to start at level 2(?) Last night was the first time I played & got far enough to see a buddy repeat. I got the archer up to level 6. Yay me.
> Never use the damn special power (both buttons pressed together) if you can help it
Why not? Is there a downside?
> For the first dragon fight, stand on the platform and hit him long distance as he approaches. He'll stop flying toward you and hover so you can hit him multiple times.
This didn't make sense till last night...when I got to the first dragon...yes, he was quite easy. I took only 2 hits.
> there is a hidden chest on the very first level with a red heart in it. jump to the right off the last cliff and swing (right after the yellow bear appears)
I sometimes saw it flickering in the tree but didn't realize I could reach it.
> The first boss can be hacked down in seconds by standing directly in front of him and bashing away. If you stand on the right spot, he will try to breathe fire, for some reason abandon the thought and then try to roast you again, ad infinitum.
Didn't work for me--I took a few hits, but not too many--I often take more hits running around fighting.
> There's a secret chest at the end of the second stage (stage, not floor), just hit the wall and collect 4,000 points.
I actually knew this!!! =O
> On the floor with the Easter Island heads that come to life, jump over them (use diagonal jump) and hit them from behind for a big coin bonus. This can be tricky if there's a grunt walking near them also.
Not even going to attempt this...
> Every time I try to get the lizard or knight henchman I die almost immediately after. I'm safer with the high level thief.
