HELP: Conecting wires to USB Cable

Hi guys. I hope someone can help me here. Please forgive me if this is not the best place for my question. But I do see it as a restoration.


I have a pretty old arcade controller at home. I think it is made for Ps2. It has a 2nd conector that I don't even know for which console was made.
I would like to keep the Ps2 conector and replace the other one for a USB.

I need help to connect the wires properly.

My USB cable has the regular Red, Green, Black and White wires. I want to connect it to this part bellow. How should I do the wiring? Can anyone help me please?

Is there a manufacturer logo and/or part number on it?

Keep in mind that simply swapping the plug probably won't work.  Different sockets expect different communications.  If it does work, woots for ya!

Sure. I have that in mind. I just decided to ask if its possible because of this video. It is in Portuguese, but the images speaks by itself

Unless that board has a USB encoder on it someplace, I don't think you'll be able to attach it to the USB cable. USB has 4 wires, of which 1 is ground and 1 is +5V power. The other two are transmit and receive from the USB protocals.

If you knew what the pinout was for the wires of the plug (ie, what each one mapped to), if it was a one to one mapping with your buttons, then you could attach a USB encoder to it by wiring it properly, and get USB that way. Considering you have 14 microswitches (buttons + joystick) and that connector only has 9, I don't think you'll be so lucky...

Without more info to help us identify the board, there's nothing we can do to help you. 

Worst case scenario -- if we can't ID the current PCB, replace the current encoder with either a keyboard-style (I-Pac, etc.) or gamepad-style encoder. (Xin-Mo, ZD, etc.)
