Cool man

I tried getting network working but couldn't get a connection. I assume it's similar to battle gear 4. If I can find out what ip address it's trying to connect too then it should work

I downloaded a program but that just told me the ports its using, didn't show me the remote address it's trying to access

Good news! Thanks for the heads up mate

Quick question though....what program do you need to get this going? I've been way out of the Taito Type 2 loop.

isamu - no program required, it runs natively in Windows, just click the .exe to play :)

this is excellent - i've had the arcade machine for a year or so now and really wanted to play the 2 player mode. apparently it will work if you plug 2 pcs into the same router. i'll give it a go tomorrow.

i've only had a quick test but can't seem to get it to go full screen, and the steering/brakes aren't analogue. are these things possible? i'm using the game.exe rather than the gameorig.exe (as i couldnt get past the steering calibration with gameorig.exe - although that does go full screen!)

Indeed Gary mate. I got home late last night fully intending to go straight to bed after an evening's drinking, then I found out my most sought after game has finally been cracked and then fours later I'm still up...

P.S. this is the game running on my bartop:

Yeah, I've not been able to get a network running either. Someone on another YouTube video told me that all you need to do is change the link ID on your second PC to '2' in the game's network test save it and the game will automatically link, but this doesn't work for me.

this is excellent - i've had the arcade machine for a year or so now and really wanted to play the 2 player mode. apparently it will work if you plug 2 pcs into the same router. i'll give it a go tomorrow.

i've only had a quick test but can't seem to get it to go full screen, and the steering/brakes aren't analogue. are these things possible? i'm using the game.exe rather than the gameorig.exe (as i couldnt get past the steering calibration with gameorig.exe - although that does go full screen!)

Untick the windowed option and the direct 3D wrapper to get the game fullscreen in the JConfig file. Also, FYI, you can increase the game's volume in the test menu if it's too quiet.

Howard - On test menu you have steering calibration. When it says calibration Left, press the "Left arrow" until it says "Calibrationt Right" then press the "Right arrow" until calibration is finished. After that it should say successful. Ignore the message to not touch the steering, do it as if you were calibrating Accell / Brake etc.

Also edit the "chq2.ini" file and add this:

# 0=EU(UK) 2=JP 3=US
DEST_COUNTRY    3
COMPE_ENABLE    1
EXTRALINKCS    1
FULLSCREEN      1
JVSDISABLE      0

Then Save :)

Oh and I made this desktop icon if anyone wanted one:

Well, apparently it already is working. This is from another forum with some pictures showing it in operation.

Quote
2 player co-op on 2 PC's

thru a router, believe it or not lol, no setup required , well apart from the network ID changes in the test menu 2PC's & 2copies of the game, plugged into the same router and she is good to go, change rounds etc in test menu.

In the games test menu(T)go to (Network), 1st PC ID1 let it do the test and the second PC same and change to ID2 let it do the test right runs thru your router.
save and restart connection on both and you should see 2 players can compete top

I notice the dude mentions about the 2 PCs being plugged into the router. I wonder if the two PCs actually need to be physically plugged in, which is maybe why I can'y get it working across my wireless LAN...?

It's entirely possible, wlan often has a layer of encryption that regular lan doesn't.  It could be that the game can't cope with that.

I got it working btw.... had to stop myself because it's fun and I don't want to play through the whole thing on my pc.

So what about analog controls?  Force feedback?  You know this is a pc game, so I can hack it.  ;)

I took a quick look at the service menu.  It'll be tough to hack due to the way all the lamps/motors have analog values displayed.  Not impossible though.

thanks for the fullscreen tip Mr. Thunderwing - that worked.

not having any luck with the network though. i've changed the cabinet ids. i might try a crossover cable between the 2 computers rather than through the network hub.

I believe you can map analog controls through the jconfig app included. Not sure about FFB

Well at least there is hope! I really need to get my video card for my new pc so I can use my old one and setup a lan so I can test this stuff. If we can get lan going that would certainly extend the life of this very short game...

Nope, not unless I'm missing something.  You can map to analog controls, but they behave like digital controls.

I don't think it was a smash hit.  I saw it in the wild exactly once.  It's basically a 3d remake of the original with much more creative stages.

So my curiosity got the better of me.  Fired up cheat engine and went to work.  The game doesn't use static variables, so pointers would have to be found for everything to work BUT.....  All the I/O data can be found in the same general area and simply NOPing the functions that write to the wheel and pedals allows one to write their on values, thus allowing for total control.

The game uses a standard sega style +-15 wheel control system.  I'm not sure how good I could craft an effect, but the data is easy enough to parse at least.

I don't want or need a project atm, I've got a backlog a mile long, but yeah if the authors of this hack can't figure it out, I can step in.

Yeah the control options for these pc dumps have started to get better, but still not perfect. Hoping for analog control in this, Fast and Furious and Wacky races at some point.

Super low, it works in my GPU-less bartop (originally only intended for MAME and 16-bit console emulators) which has got a Dell Optiplex 780 inside it - It's a Dual Core PC, running at 3.00 GHz, with 2 GB of RAM.

Find out what up address range they are using etc

I am connected directly to router etc but my ip range must be wrong I would think

I had already tried id2 on 2nd pc etc but it wouldn't work but ask them what ip they use on pc1 and pc2 if you can

So who do I need to contact in regards to analog controls and outputs?  I had a few min to kill so I found the pointers for the wheel and pedals and I also found the pointers to the lights and force-feedback.  The siren and wheel data are interleaved into a bit mask, but there's only 6 positions for the siren and 31 for the wheel, so it couldn't be that hard to figure out using the service menu.

So for anyone interested, I'm including the cheat table with this reply.  It should work with any version of cheat engine.  In the "table extras" comment box I've documented every state of the two output bytes.  Of course they are interleaved, so in-game the output value will be the sum of the PATO light state and the wheel motor state.

I could make a wrapper but it seems a bit ridiculous to make a wrapper for a game that already requires a wrapper.

Hi howard, great to know that you are poking around at this game. Should you ever make a wrapper, It would be cool to have cell shaded graphic configurable. At the moment, if you press "F" cell shaded graphics are turned on/off. personally, i think it looks better with them turned off. Also I think you are barking up the wrong tree if you are looking for the person that made jconfig. ill pm you

I/O ERROR: Libraly

 :dunno

Yep, I get the same error message

I configure everything in the JConfig program then get the error message when launching the GAME.EXE

The game will then launch but the screen resolution will change to something my monitor cannot support

I've got it set to 640x480 in the JConfig program. Even tried windowed mode

Trying it on my MAME'd Sega Rally sitdown with original CRT screen

The JConfig program still shows my configuration next time I launch it, it's like the error message is making the main program "forget" the changes i've made  ???

Find out what up address range they are using etc

I am connected directly to router etc but my ip range must be wrong I would think

I had already tried id2 on 2nd pc etc but it wouldn't work but ask them what ip they use on pc1 and pc2 if you can

I asked, this was the response:

Quote
PC's are assigned by DHCP from the router via lan pc1 is eg - 192.168.0.2 and pc2 is eg - 192.168.0.15

What does this mean though, in practical terms? It should just work? We should set the PC's IP to that?

I'd love it to use the same IP addresses as BG4...

well id try it out

make pc1 192.168.0.2 and pc2 192.168.0.3 and make both default gateway as 192.168.0.1

set pc 1 to id1 and pc 2 to id2 and see if it works

internet wont work etc unless your router is specifically set as 192.168.0.1

if it works then its obviously looking in that range for ip address but otherwise im not sure lol

Just tested it out and it works!

so yes ip range has to be 192.168.0.something

When I first loaded both at same time it didn't work so I went to test menu and network settings.  Reset network stuff on pc2 and it looked like it was trying to connect but in test mode it was saying something in red like it was trying to connect but couldn't. I then reset the network settings on pc1 and a message popped up on pc2 about direct play so I accepted

then loaded game on both pcs at same time and it worked and network play was working

I'm pretty sure the game has a native resolution of 800x600, so 640x480 might not be an option.

I've tried what you said and I still can't get a network running between my two PCs with this game. When I change the link ID to 2 on the 2nd machine and then restart the network check on both, they both count down but never connect. The IP of one is 192.168.1.9 and the other is 192.168.1.3 and the default gateway is 192.168.1.1 - Do you think it's because it's in the range of 192.168.1.0 rather than 192.168.0.0 that they just don't seem to be seeing each other?

Yes, that is most likely the issue.  If they wrote their network code from scratch it is very likely that it's looking for a specific range of IPs as it's just easier to deal with.

Note that in the reply you quoted he flat out says the ip range has to be 192.168.0.something.

Yep like Howard said it HAS to be 192.168.0.any number here

I just made my pc1 192.168.0.2
and pc2 as 192.168.0.3

Don't worry much about test menu network connecting to each other but once you load game on both pcs at same time they will connect.

OK, cheers fellas. I'll have a bit of a play around at changing my IP addresses on both and seeing if that does that trick (not sure how successful I'll be though, when I'd previously tried changing them both to static IP addresses some time ago, one of them kept throwing up an error message every friggin' time and I'd lose internet access until I reset it back to a dynamic IP).

Most arcade monitors will support 16.2kHz. At that scan rate you can install an 800x600@50i resolution. It's right on the limit. I did it with BG4 in the end, which is also TTX. (I did need to use a USB flash drive as E: to fool the dongle detection.) You might want a flicker-filter, but Radeon cards of the 5000 series and newer have one built in.

The problem is then that BG4 runs at 5/6th speed - V-sync is on, internally, I guess? I've got a post up in the GM forum to see if there's a way to turn V-sync off under crt_emudriver, but if anyone knows another way around this I'd love to try it.

That's BG4, anyway. I haven't yet got around to loading Chase HQ2, but it might have the same issue. I guess we could beg the coders of the hack to look into it :)

hmm

something interesting after doing network

Last night I was in a rush and quickly did that change of ip to 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3 on pc1 and pc2. I did the network test in test menu and once I loaded both games it worked but I didn't really have time to play so I quit out of both and turned pcs off.

Well today I got home and went to load them up and couldn't seem to get it to connect anymore. I made sure pcs were set in the 192.168.0.3 etc and they were and when I went to test menu nothing showed any signs of connecting either. I thought it seemed strange so put my ip back to their normal numbers which is 10.0.0.102 and 10.0.0.103 for pc1 and pc2, figured it cant hurt to try it out again so loaded chase hq 2 on both again and sure enough....connection!

Somehow after initially connecting its obviously noted your usual static ip etc and made that the new ip range. To be honest I have no idea how as I technically overwrote my static ip when changing to 192.168.0.3

anyway.....this is good! I don't have to change my ip ever again for this game now as its now set to pick up my normal ip range

seemed weird to me

definitely didn't work when I was trying it in weekend on this ip range

found this

Setting Dip Switch #2 to ON will enable 720p Video Output; setting Dip Switch #2 to OFF will enable 480p output. The Type X2 only outputs 31khz video; older monitors which only display 15khz/24khz video will require a VGA to CGA converter.

Setting Dip Switch #4 to ON will enable the Automatic Update System and an attempt to search for the update server. If the update server is not present and the search unsuccessful it shall reset and continue to search a number of times before accepting there is no route to the update server, cancelling, then booting to the game as normal. Setting Dip Switch #4 to OFF will disable the Automatic Update System and the search for the update server. When turning Dip #4 back to OFF for the first time after having it toggled ON it shall display the update screen one final time when it's next powered on before reverting to skipping the search for the update server until Dip #4 is toggled to ON again.

dont know if any help

All you need to do is fix V-Sync in TTX and you could run it on a 15kHz screen at 600i.

Why?  It'll take twice as many resources to run half as fast.  As soon as you get into 3D games, MAME is NOT the best choice for emulation due to the lack of hardware acceleration.

*sigh*

Which, unfortunately, doesn't appear to be changing any time soon. Wish they'd stop being stubborn and bring hardware acceleration support for MAME once and for all.

Yeah I don't see the big deal.  If they want to software emulate the video chip then go for it, but why not have the option to turn that off and use HW accel instead?

Yeah FlyBit from *** figured out the analog controls for that game as well as Valve Limit R and Wacky Races..... they work pretty well.  The interface to set them is slightly clunky though.... he basically altered the dll but not the config exe, so things work as described in the readme.

Okay so that sounds promising, how exactly do I do that. Is there somewhere I can find these modified dlls?

Thanks

They way it was explained to me, the controls in these particular games use the same (or similar) serial protocol for communication.  It doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of the hardware.

Anyway, the fix is attached:

I thought Wacky Racers used a plain old school gameport (no ffb), but I could be remembering wrong.

It very well could, he didn't go into the particulars but mentioned that figuring out what wacky races needed in terms of input data helped him figure out the others.

Gave it a shot and it works! Had to re-calibrate controls in the test menu... Will say the controls are a little sensitive for a gamepad (xbox 360 controller) but they may (or may not) translate well to a wheel. The read me mentions something about sensitivity and dead zone but no way to change it.

As far as Wacky Races goes I don't think there is any way to integrate this with that as it has no jconfig integration, at least the version I have doesn't...

No it says how to adjust settings right in the readme.

The coins per credit dip switch adjusts the analog sensitivity and the resolution checkbox enables or disables the deadzone.

I mentioned the issue about him not altering the config exe in my original reply btw.  ;)

Wacky races and the other games each have their individual dlls.  I'll see if I can hunt them up in their forum for you later tonight.

yea its a funky hack of Jconfig. Took me a bit to understand the readme. Replace the dll with the hack and then open jconfig. then hit settings for Analog settings. The Analog settings are taking over some coin settings. Disable?? Individual settings and then select "Coins per Credit" as the sensitivity 0-weakest and 4-strongest

Controls:

P1 START -       V & ENTER = START
P1 COIN -       StartScreen S = Coinup
P1 SERVICE -       S = SERVICE
P1 LEFT/P1 RIGHT -    ARROWS = STEERING
P1 BUTTON 1 -       W = SHIFT NITRO
P1 BUTTON 2 -       X = PATO NITRO ON/OFF
P1 BUTTON 3 -       CTRL = BRAKE
P1 BUTTON 4 -       SPACE = GAS
P1 BUTTON 5 -       Q = SHIFT (HIGH - LOW)
TEST MODE -       T = TEST
Individual Settings -   Analog Fake On/Off
On -         Analog Fake
Off -         Analog joystick(hardware)
Coins Per Credit -    ANALOG SENSIBILITY/PEDAL ACCEL&BREAK
0 - less sensitive
4 - more sensitive
Resolution Check -   Deadzone On/Off

F3 = SOME CONTRAST CONTROLS
INGAME F = Switches from Gouraud shading to normal

I can't tell if you've read what I keep posting, so here it is in more detail...

Does it have to be 640x480 for you to run it? What video setup are you using to get 15kHz modes? Can you add modelines? Because if you can, and if you can disable v-sync, you should install an 800x600@50i modeline so the game can use that. That's right on 16.2kHz, and most 15kHz arcade screens or PVMs will handle it. It flickers a bit, but my AMD cards are 5000+ series, so they have the filter for that. The problem I had with BG4 was that crt_emudriver has no option to disable v-sync, so the game runs at 5/6 speed. I haven't found a way around this, but if you can disable V-sync e.g. in your video drivers, it might work.

I haven't actually gotten CHQ2 working yet - I'm asking for help on that below - but will report back if it runs 800x600@50i, and at what speed.

If you read the BG4 thread, I managed to find the resolution options in the exe files and, with Howard's help, change.... something... to 640x480, but the game rendered wrong. It still came up in a 600x800 size, and the image displayed was pushed sideways and down by 30%-40%. I couldn't find anything else in the code, but I'm far from an expert.

All that said, I'd like a 640x480 mode too, so maybe we should ask on the other site. If the game wasn't designed to render that low to begin with though, it's a huge job and no one is going to take it on.

On to my own question: Anyone have a step by step guide to the calibration for CHQ2? I have the fix_v4 and I've tried setting the steering/gas/brake controls in Jconfig to my analogue wheel and pedals (then leaving the "individual settings" box checked) - I think the wheel is fine, the numbers change and it says the calibration is ok, but the pedals do nothing. In the I/O test, my brake activates the gas pedal on the top 50% range, but even trying that in the calibration phase does nothing to the number displayed on the screen :(

Yeah it's easy.  As mentioned previously, when the game tells you to keep the wheel centered, ignore that and move it all the way left or right, depending upon the type of calibration it is doing.  The game is expecting the force-feedback to move the wheel for you, but as we don't have any the wheel has to be moved manually.

Now you should follow the prompts for the pedals as those work fine.

As far as I can tell Battle Gear and some of these other games have a 800x600 (or higher) 2D hud.  While the 3d elements of a game are typically easily scaleable, 2d elements typically aren't, especially in older games that use sprites for 2d rendering.  It's the same issues I run into with my outrun 2k6 hacking.

Since these games aren't designed to run lower than 800x600 (or at least I think they aren't) it might not be possible to get them running in 640x480 while looking correct.  One solution might be to add a 600i resolution to windows and force windows to keep the games in that resolution via video card software.  The game will think it is outputting a 800x600p image, so it should run and render fine.  I'm not sure how to do that on a modern OS, but it should be possible.

You have to bind the controls you want first in Jconfig though, is that correct? My wheel calibrates, it’s my analogue pedals I’m having issues with. They don't move the numbers I'm seeing on the screen.

Regarding resolutions, no game or emulator I've tried, including BG4, has a problem grabbing an interlaced mode as long as the numerical size is right. No need to force anything. Something like VMM from the crt_emudriver package will work to install 800x600 nicely. The problem is that 15kHz CRT’s can only do 800x600 at 50i if at all, which leads to slowdown in TTX, as I’ve reported above.

Disabling V-sync in your driver might be an answer, but crt_emudriver can’t do that. And no Soft15kHz compatible card would be able to run TTX games...

How do the pedals show up in jconfig?  Is it a split pedal setup or pedals on two separate axis?  I've tried the split pedal mode but not individual pedals.

And I've tried individual pedals, not the split mode. I'll try that and see. Cheers, man :)

EDIT: as in, in Jconfig it's two buttons you're binding to - buttons 3 & 4 in the lists in your post above. Which might mean you're *not* meant to bind the pedals, you just let the game find them as d-input?

hi buttersoft i am running nanao vga with nvidea card .i used to run nanao ms9 that could run 800 600 with soft 15k but have since changed monitor i have read posts i just wondered if it was possible but as you and howard has said it may not be able to.
i read the the taito x 2 stuff had a dip switch to change res but think they are on board.
i was thinking of getting the monitor i said above but been told they are no good
i just wondered if there was anything i could try or if it is a dead end

Hmm, is that a 31khz-only monitor? You might have to install an 800x600@50p mode then. Look into VMMaker from the crt_emudriver package - there's download for the tools alone, and have a read of the guide in the second link for usage.

Try the game without forcing v-sync off first. It won't hurt to give it a shot. If it runs slow, try disabling V-sync in the Nvidia CP - and if that works, BG4 will work as well :) Either way you could try it for BG4.

Other TTx games have that black-screen config where you answer y/n questions at the start. There's settings about resolution and control type. Those questions must be the dip switches. This game doesn't have them available, that we've seen. Neither foes BG4.

Any card or setup should handle 640x480p though, or 800x600p. Win10 won't like installing the modeline by itself, but it can be done.

EDIT: it does work in 800x600 just fine, don't know what i was doing wrong first.

Ialso make the controls list out differently in the fix v4 linked above. in testing i got:

J-config setting (P1) ----> maps to ----> in-game control
Start                                                        Start/View
Coin                                                         Coin
Service                                                     Service
Up                                                            Service (p2?)
Down                                                       Nothing
Left                                                          Nothing
Right                                                        Steer Left
Button 1                                                  Steer Right
Button 2                                                  Shift-Nitro
Button 3                                                  Pato-Nitro
Button 4                                                  Brake
Button 5                                                  Accel
Button 6                                                  Gearshift
Test                                                         Test

An no, none of that is a mistake. Right steers left and Button 1 steers right :)

I can bind analogue inputs to those controls just fine, and they work well as long as you turn off the analogue-fake (uncheck the box called "individual settings")

Now, does anyone have any tips for getting the shifter to stick low/high and not reset once you let the input go?

Any one tried this with a g27?

i've
1) unpacked everything
2) set chq2.ini to :
# 0=EU(UK) 2=JP 3=US
DEST_COUNTRY    3
COMPE_ENABLE    1
EXTRALINKCS    1
FULLSCREEN      1
JVSDISABLE      0

3.)
unpacked the chasehq2_fix_rar (jvsemuhq.dll)

4.) Gone in to jconfig, I see the G27 wheel.= as joystick 1 (only joystick)

a) What joystick type do I need to select, ive tried all?
b) every key i try and map is trying to bind to axis +y, no doubt it thinks something is pressed. ive tried different joystick types/ reverse mode etc
c) I presume I launch game.exe and the the orig?
d) Within the test menu, the wheel does not register left/right/ on the wheel either, so I am unable to calibrate.
e) is there anything else we need to do ?

thanks

I haven't messed with this game yet, but the clutch pedal of the G27 causes that problem with a lot of older games.
Sometimes you can get around it by holding it exactly halfway down when mapping.

In theory, you could have a switch that flips between a 5k resistor and the clutch potentiometer for such occasions.

It sucks that Logitech profiler doesn't let you do anything with the clutch pedal.
If it worked the same as the other pedals, you could just disable or remap it for the games where it causes issues.

After trying on and off for MANY days to get this running on my main Win10 64bit machine (having got it working fine on an older 'spare' machine), I finally figured it out and so wanted to share in case it helps anyone.

The game was repeatedly crashing for me immediately following the "checking network..." text with no detail in the error or in event viewer as to why. Couldn't get in game or to the test menu.

What did the trick for me was to enable 'direct play' in Win10 which seems to be a depreciated feature associated with networked gaming...

  • Right click Windows start button and select 'Apps & Features'
  • Select 'Programs and Features' at the top right.
  • In the new window select 'Turn Windows Features On or Off'
  • Click the plus next to 'Legacy Components' and put a tick in 'DirectPlay'
  • Click OK.

You will still need to go through the calibration and stuff mentioned already in this thread.

Hope it helps someone.

That is really odd.  DirectPlay shouldn't be depreciated as it is supposed to be included with games that use it.  *shrug*  I guess Microsoft decided otherwise?

No idea Howard, info here is that it's now considered obsolete... https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms805688.aspx
Perhaps there are more efficient methods now (not my area of expertise!).

BTW - my sincere thanks to you, MrThunderwing and the others who have contributed to this thread, great to be able to finally play this game at home, just need to get my wheel working with it now.

Oh it's definitely obsolete, I'm just not sure why they depreciated it.  Afaik it is a single dll that is usually included with a game's install as it is part of older versions of directx.  Obviously we aren't dealing with a true pc game anyway so maybe it just works in those older games due to the installer.

Thanks ever so much for this, I have had the same problem for the last week or so and gave up with it.

Oh well :( You did try 50Hz, not 60Hz refresh rate, yes?

I've got it running at 600i (50Hz) not 600p, of course. And it does get the slowdown. However, it's not the fastest or most accurate driving simulator to begin with, so it's not actually so bad. And it links pretty easily between my two setups.

How do you mean would not do 50? If there's no 800x600p at 50Hz in Windows you have to install it... but you can often set refresh for in Windows for normal resolutions, i guess. Been so long since i used a VGA CRT :)

Any one tried this with a g27?

i've
1) unpacked everything
2) set chq2.ini to :
# 0=EU(UK) 2=JP 3=US
DEST_COUNTRY    3
COMPE_ENABLE    1
EXTRALINKCS    1
FULLSCREEN      1
JVSDISABLE      0

3.)
unpacked the chasehq2_fix_rar (jvsemuhq.dll)

4.) Gone in to jconfig, I see the G27 wheel.= as joystick 1 (only joystick)

a) What joystick type do I need to select, ive tried all?
b) every key i try and map is trying to bind to axis +y, no doubt it thinks something is pressed. ive tried different joystick types/ reverse mode etc
c) I presume I launch game.exe and the the orig?
d) Within the test menu, the wheel does not register left/right/ on the wheel either, so I am unable to calibrate.
e) is there anything else we need to do ?

thanks

I've been trying with a Logitech Driving GT and it doesn't seem to recognize the wheel either.

I've tried the original JVSEmuHQ.dll, the one attached here as fix4 as well, then another one I found with support for analog in theory. But:

1. which joystick type do we need to select for a wheel?
2. at the moment the default jconfig.exe recognizes every button for me as 'Joy1 Axis +Y 1000', so as soon as I touch the wheel, I cannot configure anything else, ie, then I click Coin or Start or Button 1, etc and the program doesn't wait for me to input anything, it just defaults to 'Joy1 Axis +Y 1000' in all settings :S

Any idea what I could try to have the wheel working?

In this case it sounds like one of the axis on your wheel is being moved or depressed without you knowing it. Make sure the wheel is completely still, centered and the pedals aren't pushed at all. Its probably reading a signal from the wheel and taking that as an input.

its probably the clutch.  Some people had to have it held down half way when mapping keys.

The Logitech Driving GT wheel doesn't have a clutch, just the basics (pedals, wheel, basic gears). I managed to play it with keyboard, but not too addictive that way :(

Thanks for this. Just formatted both my pcs and was wondering why I couldn't load this on windows 10 anymore!

Another thing is network won't work unless you make it run as windows 7 or lower on compatibility. Spent hours failing and this simple fix sorted it.....Stupid windows

I've been trying with a few different versions of JConfig.exe and JConfigHQ.exe and JVSEmuHQ.dll, but I cannot manage to have working simultaneously the left analog stick and the trigger buttons, the closest to a playable game was to use the shoulder buttons rather than the triggers to accelerate/brake.

Do you guys know if there's a way to use the triggers in this game? I managed to have them working when in that case I had to use the d-pad for steering as the right direction on the left analog stick didn't work...

Or if you've got it working. Could you pls share the JVSEmuHQ.dll and the monitor_input.bin and monitor_misc.bin files?

Thank you!

Should work with this

Thanks mate, I was trying with that one for hours, it turns out that one has to disable Fake analog option, or it won't work properly!!!

Having problems with the Jconfig for Battle Gear 4 Tuned now, I'll put the problem in the other thread...

Does anyone know if this has a hack to enable widescreen in the correct aspect ratio? With the 720p high res setting enabled in jconfigHQ it's still at 4:3 ratio.

Also any other cheats or hacks that haven't been mentioned previously? It seems as though the game is a bit easier in the US region version than the EU version. It still seems pretty random as to whether or not I can stop the stretch limo without continuing!

Increasing the draw distance in some areas would be cool too!

I've been trying for ages to chnage the resolution of Chase H.Q. 2 but with no luck :( I can only seem to get it to work in a resolution of 800x600, I've tried apps like DXWND & JCONFIG but it still outputs to that fixed 800600 resolution in a small box in the top left corner of my screen :(

I can now access the main test window
Using an Xbox 360 wireless
JConfig the inputs are being recognized (coin, start, test, buttons 1-6 etc)
Go into I/o settings in game
No buttons being recognized (holding triggers for gas/brake application and always fails

My top trigger works for accessing the testing menu but Cali ration always fails

What gives?

Hi Guys

OK so I am having a bit of a nightmare getting Chase HQ 2 network linked.  I've read the thread and I have set everything thus:

player1 , ID1, IP 192.168.0.2, D/Gateway 192.168.0.1
player 2, ID2, IP 192.168.0.3, D/Gateway 192.168.0.1

when I do the reset network and save thing on both after the countdown I get a final red message saying "please wait....connecting" and then a very quick green message flashes up saying  "connection OK" on both machines.

When I run the game, tried simultaneously and not so, I get no evidence of link mode from the title screens and when I insert a coin on one the other does nothing!

Oh btw I am using a crossover cable to link the two machines.

What am I doing wrong here?!

Any help appreciated.
Thanks
RR

I ended up getting a cheap-o wi-fi dongle specifically for this game and the network check Yardley.

It's actually kind of nice because now I can use remote desktop and add things to the cab quite easily from another PC.

Sorry for necro posting but i think this is worth it.
To anyone who wants to run this game without being online, go to test menu - network test - set the network id to 2 And save.
Afterwards the game will work without being online.

Could this be a miracle?? My Chase HQ2 just died (RH cabinet) PC looks like it has bad caps :(  :-[  Where can i find this cracked file? it would be life saver if i can get them up and running again. Will it work on a original Taito cabinet? Bob

Linking to roms/games is against the rules.  Discussing the games and how to get them running is not.

I think he's just looking for the .dll that SegaOutrun posted about on page 3 of this thread so he can get his original Taito cab running again with a new PC.

Thank you.  I lie awake at night worrying about the PMs he no doubt received.

I have a Chase HQ 2 cabinet with a dead HDD. Would this work in the Taito X2 plug and play?

Maybe. My understanding of X2 and TTX was that it's a windows install running software that is decoded by an encrpytion dongle - does that sound right? If you have a dead HDD, can you not clone the working one and just replace it? (RH above means right-hand cabinet, of a side-by-side?)

If you can't do that, from memory the X2 system links pretty easily over LAN. At least with Teknoparrot it does. Assuming it's just regular LAN you would need a system to run TP running the game. And from there set the service menu options and cable the cabs together, possibly through a switch. The problem with this is that i'm not sure how the IO is connected. Even if it's just USB, there's no guarantee TP will know how to talk to it.

I'm not sure what the .dll file PL1 mentions above has to do with this. Sounds like it's going to spoof some sort of hardware identifier, or dongle? or it might just be an updated device library. This might help connect a different PC to an existing hardware setup, IDK.
