[SOLVED] Samsung A68KVL74X Kortek KT2914F Vert Collapse?
« on: March 14, 2017, 05:31:55 pm »
Hello all,

I am having a problem with my CRT monitor in a PGA Tour Golf Cabinet. I am not sure where to begin.

Samsung A68KVL74X Kortek KT2914F

Powers up but has what I believe is vertical collapse.

See pictures. There is no input attached with the picture taken.

common fault-vertical ic,a fair few resistors in the vertical circuit and a couple of caps
this information is readily available online

thanks for the information grantspain.

after a more refined internet search now that I knew what I was looking for, I've ordered a new IC201 (TDA8172) and a cap kit. While I wait for the parts to arrive, I'll ensure the resisters in the vertical circuit are not degraded by pulling them and checking with my meter.

I'll post my results after the new components are installed.

I've replaced IC201 and all radial capacitors and it has brought my monitor back to life. Still needs an alignment and focus adjustment but I'm happy to have it back.

Thanks for your help, grantspain! My next project is a Makvision 2929D, which I might need some additional help with.

your issue with the corners and convergence are most likely down to the deflection coil, they all seem to burn out on these monitors-they go brittle and start to break apart
