PC -> TV: Picture bends

(1/1)

Akuinnen:
I have an ATI 7500 and a Sony Wega 32". I have tried 2 other cards and 3 s-video cables. If I open an explorer window I can see the picture bend on the edges of the screen. If I put up winamp with the visualisation plugin I can watch the screen edges dance. They seem to be affected by bright colors. The bending doesn't seem too noticeable in Mame, but I'd like to remedy this. I think I will try moving the PC away from the TV tonight, and maybe move it onto another surge protector. Something is interfering with the signal but what?

Any ideas?

Nothing you can do about that - only getting a better TV. What you descriped is the "pumping"-effect due to a poor highvoltage-circuit in your TV.
Some TV's have this rather strong, some less, some not. Whenever you happen to buy a new TV, just test it in your local shop while watching something flickering like MTV. Don't have to worry about that effect though - it won't hurt anything and as you already said, you won't actually notice this in MAME unless there comes a game out that is really flickering!
