The basic set up IS dead simple. Just add roms, use the scraper and go.

But if you wanna get fancier you have to really get in the weeds with linux.

Yeah..... I prefer my front end to not look like a htpc setup from last decade. That's why the Pi stuff doesn't appeal to me.

(Yeah, I know, Attract-Mode, etc. But by his point, I have moved on.)

For those of you putting a RetroPie setup in an arcade cabinet what button layout are you using that works for both consoles and MAME?

For NES and ATARI it's simple. For the rest I'm using plug in controllers

So for MAME how are you mapping buttons to the plug in controller?  E.g. coin, 1 start, 2 start, and exit, specifically
