vertical.ini
« on: March 05, 2017, 11:42:29 am »
Hi all,
I used to have a vertical.ini in GM containing:
Code: [Select]
interlace                 0
doublescan                0
Since GM 0.182, on vertical games with these settings, the scrolling is different than before and not very playable.
I don't know how to explain it, but there are some vertical lines every 0.5 inch.
I tried to make a video. Hope you'll see the problem, cause the video quality is not that good, sorry.

Calamity

Usually you get a log and see whats going on.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hi tom5151,

Ok, the log is exactly the same as the one I'm getting here replicating your configuration. And I'm not seeing anything wrong on my screen playing raiden2.

Which version are you comparing this one with?

I'm not sure what's the issue by seeing your video. There some pretty obvious interferences running diagonally that might be an effect from the camera and create the ilusion(?) that the trees don't move up evenly, but in separate columns.

There's another artifact that's caused by downscaling. Forcing this game at 264 lines causes visible artifacts that affect scrolling.

I'm not sure if it's any of these issues what you're seeing.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

My bad, I made some tests with crt emu b8, with older GM version and it's the same, I have the issue.
It's not easy to explain. Let's forget about diagonal interferences, it's indeed camera recording illusions.
It's in fact that the trees move in separate stacks (let's say 0.5 inch height).
I tried to make another video, but not sure it's better.
