Winuaeloader + WHDLoad and per-game savestates
« on: March 02, 2017, 03:43:59 pm »
Hi

I've searched the web for quite a while but found nothing that works.

What I want to do is:
- load a (KG) WHD-game (this part is working fine)
- save a quicksave savestate (with a cab-mapped F5) FOR THIS GAME ONLY. Then either load it automatically at game boot or later with F7. The idea being to eliminate loading times. Right now F5 saves to a single uss-file and regardless of what game you start, it always quickloads the savestate of the game you saved (so at least quicksave/load is working, just not the way I'd like)

I understand with WinUAE you can use -f to load a different configuration file to point to a specific (.uss) savestate-file but WinUAELoader doesn't seem to have this command line feature. I've also tried the WinUAELoader-built-in config file creator but I guess it's only for (.adf) disk games since it outputs nothing (it is also very likely that I'm not using it right). Maybe this could be done by editing the WHDLoad.xml -file with a game-specific statefile_name -line but when I tried it, it just screwed up the whole xml (not an expert on xml-files, obviously).

Can someone help me or is this even possible?
