Laser printable vinyl stickers, any good?
« on: February 26, 2017, 08:44:44 pm »
I ordered some laser-printable 8.5x11 vinyl sticker sheets, I was wondering if anyone had used them with any success or had tips for using them? I can add my take on them when they show up. I hadn't seen them before and bought it on a whim.

Wow, I'm pretty impressed actually. It's a thin vinyl feeling sheet on a paper back that printed without issue.

I used the "Card, Glossy 176-220g" setting on a M651 HP Color LaserJet printer and it seemed to work well. The print is on the surface very well... you can scuff it with a fingernail, but not unless you are using enough pressure to actually pick and mess up the vinyl itself.

It sticks pretty well... almost permanent. You could probably get it back up if you went very carefully. It stretches a lot like regular vinyl so slightly rounded/uneven surfaces should be OK.

Cons... you'll have to cut out your own stickers out by hand. The white color is a shade off from standard white Oracal 651 vinyl. It would be great for side art but I think for a control panel/high wear areas you'd want to top cover it with clear vinyl.

Overall... 9/10.
