I hear you. I picked up a pin for free. After opening it up I think the other guy got a good deal. I need to get some expert advice to see if it is salvageable.

MGC Rocks! I've been going for several years now. Last years' attendance topped 10,000. This year the attached hotel sold out 7 months before the show, and their backup hotel sold out last week. They're on their 3rd hotel now  :o

I'm pretty good friends with the show's organizer and founder, Dan Loosen. He's pretty active over on Pinside.

The arcade / pinball hall always has around 350-400 games and pins every year, and it's a good mix of vintage, classic, and current stuff. The newest pins are always there too.

The Saturday night VIP party is where it's at. If you bring a game to the show, you get free admission all weekend plus you get a ticket to the VIP afterparty saturday night.

I'm coordinating a fundraising auction for the VIP party again this year. Last year we raised over $3500, this year it'll be more, I'm sure of it. All the proceeds go to the food and drinks served at the party.

MGC is a great experience. The vendor tent is HUGE - over 20,000 square feet of gaming goodness. I always get TONS of great deals in the tent.

They host a pretty intense Tetris tournament each year. Some of the big dogs usually show up. Ben Mullen is there each year for sure. It's not as big as the tournament on the west coast, but scores are always in the 800,000+ range. My wife is competing this year, she's been honing her skills.

The gaming museum is truly a sight to behold. They have pretty much 1 of every thing gaming related in that room. Right down to working Speak n Spells, Apple LISA, up to the current systems. I'm sure there will be a Nintendo Switch there too. Last year they had the (UBER RARE) Nintendo Playstation prototype on display, protected by armed guards. This year I'm told that it will be back at the show again, and it's going to be made available for play! Crazy.

Such a great show. Ben Heck usually makes an appearance. Here's a shot of my wife in Ben Heck's room. She found a monster sized Gameboy, and was playing Tetris on it.

HIGHLY recommend attending.
Man, will my cab EVER be finished?

I just bought my ticket. I am committed. I also booked a room nearby. It will be a place to crash and recharge. I will be there Friday and Saturday. My son is coming up on Saturday. I have three friends who are kicking the tires right now.

That is what I aspire to. With enough booze it will at least be that cool in my head. It should be a lot of fun. If there are any BYOACers going please chime in. I would like to meet you guys in person.

There you go, start small. You know you'll have made it big time when you get other people wearing jorts and white flip-flops, running around taking pictures of women that would make PBJ proud.

I am in the midwest. Jorts and flip flops are pretty normal out here! As for women. This thing is being held in Wisconsin. Do you know what they call a 160 pound Wisconsin girl?anorexic

Yeah... I saw that Bevis and Butthead game... very cool. But next to it was a Primal Rage II arcade machine (it was in a converted MK I cab).

Am I reading too much into the general's name?
F-14 Tomcat was released in 1987 (the height of the Cold War) and this 2007 interview with Eugene Jarvis accidently (?) mis-spells the General's name one paragraph after they spell it right . . .    :lol

Cosmotrons is an indie game. It is old school hard and old school fun. It has some more modern options that give it some more depth. Lots of fun with four players.

Since enquiring minds want to know...

Uff Da Bock is my go to New Glarus brew. They were out. I saw a stout I haven't tried. I bought a six pack. It was good. If I had your wisdom, I wouldn't have to make another trip to the liquor store this week. Good thing I just made a deal to pick up a Monaco GP cockpit in Milwaukee later this week.

My favorite New Glarus brew is Moon Man. By far the most unique and delicious beer I have every consumed. So if you get a chance try that one.

I drank a Miller Lite last week.  Probably the first time in 5 years I drank a domestic macrobrew.  Wasn't that bad.

The big macrobrews are not as terrible as some beer snobs pretend. I prefer stouts, but I won't pass up a Miller or Bud if someone hands me one. I would take a Miller Lite over any IPA I have ever tried. IPAs just do not agree with me at all.

The MGC was a lot of fun. On Friday I walked the show by myself and did a lot of people watching. On Saturday a friend I have known since first grade came out. We lived in the local arcades as we grew up. It was a cool trip down memory lane. On Sunday a high school friend came out. He never got to play video games when he was a kid. His parents were misguided. ;) It was fun to be a tour guide and historian of sorts.

Next year I am going to bring a couple of my machines.

Can't wait for Zapcon next year. I would be there this year except a close friend really needs me.

Hey everyone.  My bud Dave and I are the developers/builders of Cosmotrons.  The Midwest Gaming Classic was the machine's first public outing and it went very well!  Thanks for posting the pic MikeA.  Notice that mirrored glass was excessively reflective.  We had to turn it around for the show as it was too bright in there, then it was much better.  For more info, go to our build page AND the alpha for the game can be downloaded for pc and there is a link there:
