Better Gear, shifter or regural with NOS button
« on: February 08, 2017, 05:56:33 am »
Hello everything....

I began a  conversion of "original" CHASE HQ (italian version) cabinet into MAME driving cab (with really less cabinet modifications), so.... my dream it's play good SPY HUNTER (the better way as possible) but also SEGA MONACO GP (remake) and maybe some old classic (DAYTONA on first)

Another bad thinks its my original 360 analog steering wheel, where i cant add buttons over it.....

After these considerations, witch gear would be more suitable for this conversion? you have to considered to add less buttons on the cpanel and more on some parts where are used to drive (gear....the only way)

This is the cabinet...

Pics are broken.
Spy hunter has an optical wheel natively, so you will never get good results with an analog wheel. Never.

Pics are still broken on my phone.
The problem is the autocenter optical games have. Try it yourself, even with a joypad, and you will figure it out after a couple of turns
You will play chase hq well, anyway, being that the game supported both pot and optical wheels (there's an option in the dip menu)

I can't see the pics either.  That's not unusual for my computer at work though.
It blocks most of the pics that aren't hosted here.

Looks like the photos won't show up if you don't have an account at arcadeitalia.net.

Tried to view one of the photos in a separate browser tab . . .
Code: [Select]
http://www.arcadeitalia.net/download/file.php?id=41849&mode=view
. . . and got this.

I'm running RacerMAME1.06 on my crazy taxi multi with a 270 degree analog wheel. Spyhunter seems to work on it fine. I think there were some tweaks so the games could work with optical of analog.

No, there are no tweaks to better play optical wheel games with analog (even if i made some unsuccessful tryes)

I'm a bit confused....  ???

leave out the SPY HUNTER question....its better UP/DOWN or HI/LOW shifter, to emulate a big amount of games? (at last the most beautiful of golden age)

It's obviously better to equip the machine with a sequential shifter (if thats what you mean with up/down gear shifter...) because it doesn't prevent you to play gems like outrunners or model 2 games.
What does confuse you? What guys are telling you is that with your optical wheel you can play optical games ( like Spyhunter) at their best.

No, im not confused about optical and analog steerling wheel, now everything is almost clear  :D

I was confused on which gear i could use....and buy....because at the moment i'm looking for this shifter online and its hard to find a cheaper one....  :notworthy:

At good price there is a LORENZO INDUSTRIAS speed shifter (with turbo button) only at 50 euro, but with an expensive shipping cost .... (30 euro)
