Raspberry Pi Flickering on HDTV
« on: February 03, 2017, 09:02:05 pm »
So I'm FINALLY making the time to get my two Pi projects done.
Today I went downstairs to fire up the Pi and get it ready to move the ROMS.
I have two Pi's - one of which I had installed Retro Pi onto the SD card. The other I'm unsure,
I haven't touched it since buying it used this summer.

And of course, me being me I did not label the SD cards or the units.
So I plug one Pi in and I get NOTHING.
I plug in the second Pi and I see the Pi logo (repeated 4 times on the top left corner) and get some flashing gradient screen.
(Like when your picking a color in Photoshop)

I have no idea what is wrong and which is which. So I go upstairs, and watch again the Pi set up video. I format the SD card using the correct tool and write the Retro Pi image to the card (no errors).

I go back downstairs now and hook up the Pi via USB to my TV and I get that same flashing screen.

I searched Pi + flickering here, but no results. Quickly went on Google, but found no info of use.

Any help here guys, thanks.

Thank you.

I tried changing the power supply, but the result remained the same.
I've now downloaded the latest version of RETRO PI. I'm currently writing it to both my SD cards.
I'll test it shortly.

Thanks

(I'll post results)

Tried a different TV or HDMI cable?

I didn't try a different HDMI or TV yet.
I looked to see if I had an extra HDMI laying around, I didn't.
But that will be the next thing I check once I test the latest build here shortly.

Tried a different HDMI wire on same TV, same issue.

Tried the same kind of HDMI wire on different TV (Sony LCD projection) and it works !
One issue I did have tho, was one of my two adapters (Which were ordered to work with a Raspberry Pi) was not delivering proper voltage.

I switched the adapter and it appears I'm off to the races.
