Maximus Arcade and Zinc
« on: February 02, 2017, 05:17:25 pm »
Hello all

I am close to finishing my MA front end and i have nearly all of the emulators and games that i want in place. However one emulator is kicking my backside. Zinc.

I have followed Delusionals guides and can get the games such as Bloody Roar 2 to play but the problem lies with the speed of the game. Its very laggy and slow. for example, when you press the key for punch, it literally takes about 3 seconds for the command to complete and take place. its all very slow in motion!

I have also tried this through a Zinc GUI and the games work perfect.

I suspect that the load of MA and the Zinc emu being spec hungry is soaking up the CPU usage.

I am using the following

PC
Win 7 64bit
Intel core 2 duo Quad Core 6800 2.4Ghz CPU chip
2 x 2 GB DDR3 533mhz Memory
Geforce GT210 512MB - (Aware that Zinc wont utilise this)

MA - 2.10
Zinc 1.1 with Winterblast plugin and winOGL

Is there anyway of getting Zinc to work more efficiently through MA so that the games dont slow down?

Thank you for any help in advance

Lew

Fixed it - changed the renderer to D3D from OGL and the fluidity is much better.

Is Zinc still that much better than MAME?  I tried Mame 0.181 and most of the old zinc required games play well.

I found the roms i had with my mame version asked for the CHD'S and would not work. However Tekken 3 in Mame 64 works well as G-Darius. My opinion that Zinc runs the 3D games just as well as mame but i had to throw a quad core processor into the main board from dual core.
