So we are using the original "simpson" Rom and not the 2 player rom ?? - This means everyone is going to be only Marge correct ??

Figure if we use the 2 player rom it allows you to choose which player character you use - So wanted to make sure whether using the mage character for everyone is what was meant to be selected or not.

You know, I apologise, I didn't even give it a second thought. I just fired up the version I use on the cab.

I don't see why we couldn't use the 2p version though. I would think it's exactly the same, save for the character select.

If I recall, didn't we agree on the same thing with TMNT?

Either one is fine by me. It is kind of annoying on the 4player version the only way to play as the other characters is remapping the controls.

Edit: I just played the 2p version. Since you can easily select players without changing controls, I will be playing this version.

Sounds good - Just wanted to find out if there were any other differences or if Marge was the character we should all play to keep it uniform, before remapping the controls or anything. (can only take so much of that vacuum cleaner !!)

Well hell.  The nostalgia is real!  LOOK THERE'S DR MARVIN MONROE WHERE DID HE EVER GO?

I remember the time that myself and three random chitlins of varying ages decided that we were absolutely going to beat this game.  No matter what.

Think the operators made about $40 off of us that day, but i'll be damned if we didn't beat it.

I honestly think this is one of the most egregious quarter-munchers of the era, but it's also one of the most fun.  Weird.  Def be able to talk my girlfriend into playing along with me tho and maybe that'll help me get some more practice in :)

98 whoppin' points.

What's the point of the blow-up-the-balloon bonus stage, where it shows you getting lots of points but then they don't seem to apply to your real points. What's the point?

I think I used Bart on this game. I tried all 4. Homer & Bart seem to be my faves.

Winning the bonus stage gives you some health back.

I have played this all weekend, and still can't get past the freakin' 2nd stage boss.   If i could pass the stage 1 boss without dying, i could do it.  But for the life of me i couldn't get any sort of attack pattern down for him.

Congrats to Sly

Thanks. The strategy with the 2nd boss was to start at the bottom of the screen and then when it comes to the bottom, gradually move up to get behind & hit it, move up again - hit it, again etc. until you get to the top of the screen & then go back to the bottom - rinse & repeat. Try that out if you play it again.

I was never able to play that much this weekend but I did find out how to do the special move (press both buttons; could have sworn I tried that multiple times) & that move made the harder enemies & boss 1 a lot easier. I was using Maggie most the time.
