Racing Games with Network Support
« on: January 02, 2017, 04:58:54 pm »
Guys,

I did a quick search but i didn't find a definitive answer.

I would like to build a multiplayer multiple arcade support over LAN.

Except Sega Emulator 2, is there any others games/emulators that support up to 4 players over lan?

Thank you for your help!

Apparently PPSSPP supports networking, but I've never tried setting it up myself.

Outrun 2006...? The PC port of that works great for multiplayer (saving the onscreen position of the cars, which is messed up). Howard Castro has nearly finished the LAN integration for his FXT mod, from what I understand. Awesome game, my fav arcade driver, and definitely worth a look.

Eh the macro is kind of glitchy atm... it's more of a proof of concept than anything else.  6p multiplayer btw.  ;)

The vanilla version does, yes. It'll be the same as with the FXT mod, so 6 players - I'm assuming Howard knows, I've never tried that many myself.

Once each instance is set up, you can control all the menus with the wheel + pedals - I did have to use JoytoKey to bind up and down arrows though, IIRC. It's amazing, save the fact you can only tell where your own cars is, other player cars do weird ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- on your screen.

These are the older PC games I keep on my cockpit which are LAN-capable (none of these are very arcade-like, though):

rFactor - with all of the mods which tend to be full conversions, I consider this a many-games-in-one option. This is, however, way over on the sim side of the spectrum, which doesn't seem to be what people in this forum are interested in.

Rallisport Challenge - supports up 4 players over LAN.

Cross-Racing Championship - supports peer-to-peer connections, but I don't know how many connections it can handle.

GTR2 -  supports peer-to-peer connections, but I don't know how many connections it can handle.

Flatout 2 - I believe this supports 4 players over LAN

Race Driver Grid - can support 4 LAN players
