Ok, look at it this way. A lot of schooling is involved in becoming a teacher, depending upon what level you teach for of course. Typically people with degrees bring in 60k or more easy. In most States teachers get the same amount as a blue collar worker... they do extra work without any financial incentive to do so. So what incentive do the brightest and best minds have to become a teacher?
Because of this good teachers are the exception, not the norm, especially in super poor areas.
It's not about teachers being in the poor house, it's their pay not rivaling doctors and the like, which it should because forming young minds is just as important as saving lives. I mean I do my part, any prop. that comes up for vote I always vote to give them more pay, but apparently WV is a red state now, so my vote never counts.
