I tried running the exe directly from the HDD in windows 7 but got a "could not find (sorry forgot)"

You can try and run it on whatever you want but until someone goes in and changes what the game is looking for you're only going to get it with a clone global vr. Don't think of it as a stand alone program...yet (maybe howard will work howard magic)

It's been years since I messed with mine, but don't they have a joystick mode?

They do, but mine are set up for mouse :p
Worst comes to worst if Howard can work his magic I can change it for occasional play :p
