Question about when Hotkeys do and don't work
« on: November 20, 2016, 08:37:43 pm »
Hi all,

I've been having mixed luck with getting hotkeys to work with various emulators, and I've been trying to understand the reason why. Most programs seem to close just fine with a "close" hotkey, and when I use a "post" hotkey that also works as expected.

There are two emulators that have been giving me trouble: mupen64plus and ePSXe. In mupen64plus's case it's not that big of a deal since its hotkeys can be configured enough for my needs, but in ePSXe the hotkeys are fixed and can't be configured.

I noticed something they both have in common: they initially launch in a first window and then open a second window.

The behavior of the failed hotkeys is also similar: a "close" hotkey will close one of the windows, but not both. A "post" hotkey seems to just have no effect, while the running emulator still responds to its own native hotkeys.

Is this because Mala's hotkey isn't dealing with all of the windows or forked process kicked off by the emulator?

Thanks for any advice that might help solve this. :-)

Try using mednafen for PSX then. It is very configurable.
