  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Hi! I’m new to the forum, and new to the scene. So, I'm very inexperienced with a lot of this. I am hoping someone can help me out. What is the best way to setup my system? See below for specs. I want as close to arcade perfection as I can get, and feel I have all the right components. I just can’t quite seems to get it right though. I would also like to take advantage of the monitor as much as possible, meaning I want it to fill the screen as much as possible while keeping the right aspect ratio.

The problems I’m having are:
•   Some games won’t display.
•   Some stretch funny.
•   Some don’t appear to be the right resolution.
•   Hyperspin videos are slow to load in the preview box (This one I think I fixed just curious to see how you’d go about fixing it).

What I’ve found in researching things so far is GroovyMAME is best for CRT monitors, and that it’s suggested to use CRT Emudriver. My questions are:
•   Will that work for me? I don’t see ArcadeVGA on the list.
•   Do I need to uninstall the original drivers to install the emudriver? Or do they work in hand together?
•   I don’t have documentation on the monitor, is 800 X 600 the highest it can output?
•   Is what I’m trying to do even a liable option?

I have a lot of time invested in getting to the point I’m at. I just want to be sure I’m headed down the right path before I proceed any further. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. So, what your telling me is my ArcadeVGA 5000 video card is not the answer I was looking for???... Any suggestions as to what to get? Will one card on the CRT Emudriver list work better than another with my system? What is the popular one most seem to be using?
