A long delayed update...After 2 months off, I’ve eventually got around to doing a load of the little bitty jobs needed to get this working. None of them were terribly exciting so I’m putting them all together in one update.
Mounted the computer onto a board and fitted it into the cabinet (clicking on images makes them bigger)
Decased the monitor, added a wooden mount to that it can be ‘slotted’ into the cabinet from the back. It’s then secured with 2 screws.
Finished the back door and added ventilation
Wired up all the buttons to a zero delay encoder and spliced the phono cable between PC and amplifier, and wired in a volume pot, securing the pot to the control panel.
I've only got a black/white volume knob at the moment but I'm on the lookout for a red one to match the buttons. I'm not precious about it though as it works pretty well and doesn't seem too out of place.
So - with all that done, the only things left to do are:
- Mount the PC power switch to the front of the cabinet.
- Reinstall Windows 7. The copy I have isn't legit (even though I’ve got half a dozen legit keys laying around - none are for the version I installed - Doh!).
- Add some USB ports in an accessible place as going into the back of the cabinet to plug in USB sticks is getting old REAL fast…
- Set the frontend up
As it’s the holidays now I should be able to meet my self imposed end of year deadline. Probably
Sneaky peak of Asteroids Deluxe running on monitor.
