Terminus Clone - CougArcade - with CNC
« on: July 23, 2019, 06:34:14 pm »
It's been 7 years since I made a clone of the famous Terminus cab.  Someone commissioned me to make another one for their game room and I am lucky enough now to have an XCarve CNC unit in my garage.  It sure makes the difficult curves of Terminus much more doable.  Here are some pictures, I've been going at it strong for a week now and should be done in the next week or so.  Hit me up if you want any cut files or the sketchup version of this bad boy.

You forgot to cut a hole for the coin door.

:D The guy I'm making it for doesn't want one.  Straight coin buttons.

As opposed to the other kind.... not that there’s anything wrong with that....

Yep i'm doing a commisioned build as we speak, he didnt want coin door either.

IMHO it's useless unless you plan removing credit buttons altogether.

I dunno man, putting a quarter in, hearing the ~clankity-click-thunk~ of it going through the mechs and dropping into the cash box is pretty vital (and lethargic) part of the arcade experience.

It’s always disappointing to see projects without them.

BUT, I do like the craftsmanship going into this build, just like Terminus.

Terminus was one of my favorite builds from the earlier days and a great inspiration to a lot of people. I believe I mentioned it in the hall of fame nominations thread. Good to see you carrying on some of that influence in this cab.
Good luck with the rest of the build. Still wish it had a coin door, but hey, the customer is always right! :lol

My company owned retail stores before we went strictly wholesale. The customer is pretty much always wrong.

Agreed, but you really have to get rid of the credit button to justify putting a coin door on a cab.  Otherwise, pressing a button, vs. finding qrtrs and tokens laying around will win everytime.

Hell the coin door on my first mame cab was used all of NONE.  It's unused eye candy especially for mame cabs, now a dedicated cab needs coind door, a mame cab not so much.
