Grail is supposed to refer to something that is desired and is hard to find. A Robo cocktail could be a grail. A well-worn upright, nope.

720 is a great game that I played a lot 30 years ago. That's what makes it desirable to me. It's not something I played at my buddies house and thought, "Gee I'd like to own one of these, now it's a grail, eh!" Which is how the word seems to be misused. If you have more than one grail, you're grailing wrong.

Let's put it this way, Indiana Jones didn't get to pick two cups for the final test, did he? There's only one Grail.

When Sir Galahad went on his quest to find the Holy Grail, he didn't stop and say, "Hey that one's pretty cool, I think I'll include that in my search as well." There was only one cup he was looking for. That's what makes it real special - it's the significance and the quest.

But since you're one of the top two coolest Canadians here, Cheffo , I'll allow it. :-)

I would think "your grail" vs. "the grail" are two different beasts entirely. If we are going to talk about grail arcade games purely on a collectible level, Sunspot has to be it (original, not Sega asteroids clone). Short of prototype cabs, this is the rarest cab ever IIRC.

I think personal grails are titles that are likely unobtainable to that person for whatever reason...cost, rarity via location, etc. Then again, a good buddy of mine says when it comes to arcade collecting; unless you get a very lucky find, there are three categories; cheap, fast, and good...pick 2.
