Show Marquee while playing game

Ive searched with no luck... Looking to see if there is a way that I can display current games Marquee on the same screen game is being played?Im using a large vertical widescreen monitor and would like to use top of screen to act as a Marquee.

I figured I can by modifying the bezel artwork and Layout but that would take forever.

You mean like the attached image?

You can do it with layout files but you'll need to create one for each game. Let me know if you need a default one to get you started.

Yes that is what I was thinking! ,I knew its been done before just couldn't find out how

Could you show me a sample to the Layout file?  Ive never messed with any of them.

Ive tried the LCD marquee and failed....FML

  - It was only because I tried this idea out myself last week. I was thinking of doing a vert widescreen build myself if I ever get the time but I've got an asteroids cabaret and virtual pin to do first...

Unzip the attached file into your artwork folder in mame and run the game. All being well it should show the marquee and bezel. You'll have to tweak the dimensions in the layout file if you want to use it in other games. Laythe has already done a load of this work on his Mimic build which is defo worth a look:

Can you give mame a specific portion of the screen, and a marquee on the top?
