60 in 1 Jamma
« on: June 22, 2016, 03:53:15 pm »
Hey there everybody stupid question but I have a 60 in 1 board and a small cabinet I built. Everything works great but I need to know if there is a way to get back to the main game menu from inside a game. For example say I'm playing Donkey Kong and I decide I want to play something else. I'd there a button to push or hold down or do I just kill off my guys? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Let all your players die off, that's the only way.

That, or power down and up again.

Which takes 10 times as long.

At least, as all the games go through boot initialization again.

But, it shows it's not the only way.

any idea which board it is?  Sounds like an i-cade.  I used to have a game elf 619 in 1 and on that one you could press player 1 and player 2 start together and that would allow you to quit a game.  Find out what board it is and maybe take screenshots of the board and we'll see if we can figure it out.  I'm sure there will be a way.

The iCade is the only 60-in-1 board there is, as far as I know.

I did wonder that, but wasn't sure if there were any others.  I used to have the 19 in 1 and I can't remember how I got out of the games on it.  I'm sure there must be a way, but all I've found is a scanned pdf document with instructions in it, but it only appears to have the dip switch settings in it and nothing much else.  I'll keep looking and see what else I can find...

If you look at this video, the guy just presses a button and it takes him back to the menu...  You might want to try wiring up all the buttons and testing this...

As others have said there is no way on these boards other than dying or turning off/on -- Notice in your linked video he even says so at approx 03:24 he says - "you have to die to go back to the main screen !!" The time you mention where he presses a button is from attract mode not from within a game.

So you can quit while in attract mode?  But you can't quit while you're still alive?  How does the system know this?

That's true if you have all the games enabled.  If you only have 1 game enabled its practically instant.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

When the 60-in-1 is in system attract mode you press a start button to "wake it up" so you can select a game.  You can also press button 1 to get a preview of the game.

Once in a game, and your game ends, it returns to the menu and goes back into the systems attract mode.  Games themselves do not stay in game (they automatically end and return to the main menu) and therefore do not go into attract mode.   They only exception that I have seen is games like Mr. Do! that can award you an extra credit may keep you in game.

Dude, these games are over in less than 30 seconds.  Do you really need an exit game button.....

And the sound sucks, there is input lag, and the game list includes stuff you won't have controls for....

With all due respect to Cheffo and other 60 n 1 aficionados and supporters, you should consider using something else especially if you are serious at playing the games.

"My board works and I'm happy with it, is there a way to exit?"

"How DARE you like something I dislike?!"

Great contribution, harvey.

Where is that guy who wanted to see me be the victim of an absentee tirade?  :afro:

FWIW, I don't disagree with the objections, although I think they pale in comparison to the selection of controls used.
