I'm chuffed as hell.  Started a new job a couple weeks ago.  Much better pay and hours.  This upgrade in financial status is allowing me to buy my first dedicated cabinet.  An Asteroids Deluxe cabaret!

This isn't the one I am buying, just for illustrative purposes.

Yup.  He's even cutting me a bit of a "buds with Yots" deal on it.  My daughter freaked when I told her we were getting it.  It's going to live in her room until I get the gameroom organized and stocked.

You have NO idea how excited I am to bring this home.

I've only a minor bit of chuffiness going on so far.  I made a flying spaghetti monster out of balloons for nephews grad party.  We released it to hover and deliver its meaty gaze over Tennessee this past weekend.  I've not been doing much arcade stuff, but the selection of arduino components i ordered have been trickling in.  Daughter and I are doing Robots!

I demand a project thread!  Robotics is my soft spot, and a daddy daughter robotics project just sounds awesome.

Sounds like fun! Remember, the Summer of Chuff thread doesn't always have to be about Arcade stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Only complaint about Stubbs is that it was too good and became ubiquitous immediately.  Had to take a break for a few years.  I rarely buy it but still encounter it all the time.

While I'm sure it's mostly a tourist destination these days, I'm happy to report that their BBQ is very good.

Grandma's aluminum siding, circa 1970, is finally having issues, so I've been working on it.  I've been a painting fool the past few days.  The stupid ceiling of the porch was all messed up and seeing as how spray paint tends to stop working when you shoot straight up I've been doing it with a roller.  Painting metal with a roller is NOT recommended.

That being said it's turning out pretty good thus far.  Way too much work, but if it makes Maw-maw happy I'm cool with it.

Consulting kicks ass because you make a lot of money.

First you get the money, then you get the patio furniture.

Summer is here.  Lock and load.

Today in "I can't believe people pay for admission to this ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---" we present Houston Comic Con.

Eight seasons of enduring True Blood and my wife didn't recognize this guy.  Sigh, only Eric for her heart.

Turns out Ron Perlman is short.  Security yelled at me for taking this.

Probably owe someone $5 for taking a photo of this.

I've toyed with the idea of making a Davros wheel chair and just roam around the world in it.  Either that, or that sweet chair from Star Trek TOS with the blinky light that Pike used.

Help us out, Yot, what the hell are we looking at?

Looks like I spoke a little too soon about finally having an Austin trip where some criminal didn't try to sell me drugs or stolen stereo equipment.  Was there less than 24 hours and managed to get my credit card cloned.  And they attempted a shopping spree at Big Lots of all places.  I'm actually insulted.

I'm helping my buddy Joe who runs HighScoreSaves.com with assembling these boards for sale. They replace the EPROMS on the Unisystem board and allow you to run up to 8 different games, selectable via DIP switch.

I'd make it easier to switch games.  Wired remote for the dip switches?

Just make a pin header extension accessible from the coin door.

There's a header on the device for a remote setup that bypasses the DIP. I'm wiring one up and will have pics soon. It'll be coin-door accessible like Mal said.

Incredibly stupid question:

Would it be possible to piggy back pcbs together in order to have more game choices?  Eight is great, but 32 or 64 would be better.

Incredibly stupid question:

Would it be possible to piggy back pcbs together in order to have more game choices?  Eight is great, but 32 or 64 would be better.

Jim's not too far off... Thre are about 5-6 games total I'd HAVE to have with this setup since its PPU dependent. The rest are extras.

Oh so you need to match the PPUs.... that's a different story then.  I was thinking more along the lines of running some NES roms on it for a rgb NES.

There are some hacked roms that allow you to use different PPUs, so there is some flexibility. There is another project out there called the UniVersus that allows you to use any PPU and can run some NES roms, but no one has seen it or heard any news since the end of last year.

Me, been busy prepping for the new addition to the family.  Only 8 days left!  Her room is done.  Just using my arcade painting skills to paint and mount wooden lettering for the final touch to the nursery.  Paint, sand, paint, sand.  Sound familiar?

Other than that I plan to finish editing the Zapcon footage I took while I was there.  Haruman, I haven't forgotten you sir!  I still have that footage to promote your Haruman's Customs store.

Oh, and thanks to some connections, I'm getting my hands on the MultiVS too before release.  You guys know who you are who helped this along, thank you!  Also a big thanks to Joe @ HighScoreSaves.com who is providing a loaner board.  Look for it in my channel in the future.

Last but not least, I'm hoping to get the following projects cosmetically done this summer (if I have time, my list is long!):
-  vs. Restoration - This one may get done quicker than planned.  I may put it together, test the MultiVS board and then take it apart again in order to finish it up cosmetically this summer.

-  Super Pac-man Resto - I'm missing pieces for it.  But I will at least finish painting it this summer.  I may toss in a custom version of MAME with Multiple Pacman versions only on it for now once I finish the paint job.  That way it doesn't just take up space in the Game Room.  Eventually I can put in the proper hardware.

-  Total Carnage/SmashTV - I need to replace the JAMMA harness in this.  The game resets on occasion and I just noticed that the P2 fire right (joystick 2 on player 2) is not working.  Turns out a wire fell out of a crimp connector.  (old wiring), so at least it's something simple.  I'm going to tear it all out and replace it with a quality JAMMA harness and re-crimp connectors all around to make it rock solid.  Then I'm going to look into a QUALITY 3 in 1 connector so I can add Robotron.

Pretty ambitious list!  Especially with a newborn arriving any day now.  I got this though...     :laugh2:

I was wondering about that...

And good luck, newborns are fun...   >:D
