:dunno I think they could have done better... maybe at least have shown 1 piece of interesting software that works with it. It's more got me scratching my head on what's the point more than anything.

The average American household is now carrying about $10k in credit card debt, which means they have likely resorted to it for necessities at this point.  If you think that won't affect the launch of a $500 toy, I'd say that you were fortunate to be living in a financially secure bubble.

BTW, they appear to have made some headway in getting the PSVR2 working on the PC.  It's only under Linux at the moment, and they still need to RE the controller stream, but that supposedly wasn't the part they were concerned about.  It still might not happen, but they haven't stopped working on it.

Then what's the problem in adding an extra $500 to these losers already 10k debt? Why stop there?

I never said it was impossible for someone to hack the PSVR 2.  I said Sony would never support the PC and you kept insisting they might.  If someone hacks it cool… but there will still be too many individual games not working, support problems for me to want to deal with it.

Because based on the average interest rates and minimum monthly payments, it ends up being an over $1000 investment, not a $500 one.

Actually, I maintained that it would eventually be possible to use it on PC by whatever means, without ruling out the possibility for 1st party support.  Obviously, games not specifically designed to take advantage of some of the less standard features, wouldn't use them, but I don't see why a decently implemented spoofer driver which emulates an Index or other common headset, would result in individual games not working.

The only real draw I see to the unit for PC users is the RGB-Stripe OLED display technology they used.  If the hackers can get the basics functional, it would cover the bases for most PC users, who really don't need to worry about foveated rendering.  But they big roadblock currently is that they have only managed to hack a display driver under Linux, with indications that a hardware adapter might be required for Windows users, which would add cost and complexity and ultimately make such a solution less attractive.
