Ok to come back?
« on: April 28, 2016, 05:43:03 pm »
I've missed this forum so much. I probably have some diagnosis, but I'll leave that to future doctors to elaborate. So if you guys want me back, I'll be here. It's ok to say no, I'll understand that too.

Humble regards

John

I am eager to see the finish of your DK scratch & Sega Outrun resto.

If pbj can come back,  I don't know how we can stop you.

Just take it easy, you are a great builder, no need to squabble with those of us who might see issues differently.

They usually just start posting again, but only sporadically.
Then they slowly build back up to the old volume.

I dream of quitting the habit sometimes.
More for the time it will free up than differences of opinion though.

Welcome back.

In all honesty, letting all these internet tough guys get under your skin is a bit silly. Hell, Yots, Harvey and I will probably never ever agree on Bling and button counts, but I value their opinions (although they are wrong  >:D) and wont let that drive me away. Just flip the occasional bird at your monitor and move on.

Looking forward to seeing you finish your Outrun restore (I just got the same restore myself) so I can see how you resolve some of the challenges with the plastics.

I have no problem with LED buttons. The problem comes in the implementation of said buttons. If you use them to indicate which buttons are needed for a particular game via LED Blinky, that's both sensible and logical. If you just want them because OMG!LIGHTEDBUTTONZ!!!!1!!, then GTFO.

Meh, light them all or GTFO.  The mystery of what an arcade button does is solved by pushing that button once, just as intended.  Yes, that means you wasted your super attack, yes that means that quarter isn't going to last long, that was the plan.

Unnecessary thread is unnecessary. But sometimes it takes a little break for obtaining some humility and locating one's balls.  >:D but seriously you don't need to ask permission/draw attention to come back. This is a public forum, just have fun and accept there are different personalities with different cultural backgrounds. You can't be liked by everyone.

Mo'light Mo'bettah!

I like them all lit, and lights around speakers, lit underneath - lights everywhere! And chrome.  ;D My latest build is definitely more flashy than my previous builds.

So yotsuya, you're saying you don't know if you like a control panel with LED lights, until you know if the led's light the appropriate button per game? So if a control panel has a 2 player street fighter layout and all LED's are lit and it's playing Street Fighter, you like it. But if the game is switched to Galaga and all the buttons stay lit, you don't like it? Weird bro...

All buttons lit... Active buttons lit... Who likes what is pretty much equal to the difference between a fit man and an ass man. Personal preference. Either way though, there is such a thing as too much.

Uh.... I'm not a fan of LED buttons regardless of how they're used, but using them makes sense to me if you're lighting them to indicate which ones are active in the current game. It has a purpose.

I used LEDs on my first two Mame cabs, but I don't ever see myself using them again. The longer I'm in this hobby, the less I'm impressed by bling,  the more I am by utility. Bling doesn't make the games play any better.*

*Note: these are just my opinions - doesn't mean they're right or wrong.  LED/bling away, folks!
