1971 Spanish Eyes EM Pin - Won't start game
« on: April 27, 2016, 05:18:28 pm »
So I've had this pin for like 8 years, never any issues.  Month or so ago, all the playfield lights went out.  No big deal, probably a bad ground somewhere.  Game still played.

Now, as of the other day, when you try to start a game, the ball doesn't get kicked out, and the ball in play counter slowly goes from 3 to 2 to 1 until it's game over.

I am a complete and utter noob when it comes to EM pins.  Where do I start?

I'd start at a real pinball forum.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

For the lighting issue, and provided it's not just a fuse, I'd toss in a jumper wire somewhere to get them working again.  I did that over 10 years ago on my EM, still going strong.  Not even worth trying to find the problem there.

For the ball cycle issue, no real advice besides the obvious.  Make sure that the trough switch is actually closing when the ball is present.  Manually actuate the reset relays under the hood to see what happens.  Check that none of the playfield switches are stuck closed.  Etc.  It's going to be something very simple.

Thanks for the tips.  The jumper idea is a good one, I didn't think of that.

Find some wooden chopsticks. Get the start up sequence going in the dark and poke around wherever you see sparks.

Maybe your slab is just a fuse,  too!
