  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
No rush. It works great in 800x600 and that's enough for me. I just want to say thank you once more.
A good bud is a dead bug :)
On my laptop I can set any resolution and it's working fine. I'll try on my gaming cab. Both are under Win7

You could help me by :
- Setting your model2 with a full screen res where the bug appears
- Deleting any debug.txt file in DemulShooter's folder, and runnig DemulShooter for a model2 by adding the -v command so that it creates a new debug.txt file.
- Using for a few seconds the emulator by moving your cursor around, exting and joining here the debug.txt file !

Moreover, just for information purpose  I could note your :
- Windows version
- Graphic card (ATI ? NVIDIA ? )
I'm running Windows 10, Creator's Update
Nvidia, GTX 970

Here's the log. I noticed the desktop resolution is detected as 1280, 720 when my desktop resolution is 1920x1080. I don't know if that's relevant or not.

Edit:
The incorrectly detected desktop resolution got me thinking. I disabled the high DPI scaling on DemulShooter.exe and now it works! The resolution is still detected incorrectly, but now I have the full target area!

I was wrong on one point, I didn't remember but testing my config at home (old plain Win7), I had in fact modified my m2emulator to run on 1920x1080 on my screen and never had any issue with it (everything is detected correctly)
So yes the wrong desktop resolution detection is indeed the cause of the problem but I still don't know why it's reacting like this on some computers....
And I'm affraid each new Windows will be harder to support than it's predecessor.

But your DPI scalling hint might be very usefull for this matter ! for sure !

Still the same...  Only Wiimote 2 does anything. It moves the red (p1) cursor and the blue (p2) cursor ever so slightly. The blue cursor is stuck in the top left of the screen. Wiimote 1 does nothing.

Edit:
When only playing with one Wiimote, it works as expected.
Edit 2:
The file you posted above is timestamped the 3rd of July. Are you sure you uploaded the correct one?
Yeah it was the right one, access time are tricky with windows, between last acces, creation date and so on...
But you really made me doubt, because when I tested back the uploaded file, I was unable to control the Player2 just like you explained !!
I spent 1 hour not beeing able to do anything with a Joystick or even my Aimtraks, I started the emulator a bunch of times...and suddently it worked back as perfectly as it was before.

I've joined a newer build, just a small change on it to test if the screen resolution is detected correctly with model2.
I really don't know for the P2 bug..... I had a lot of trouble with the memory location for this emulator and it may not be as done as I thought.....
Right now, the only advice I can give is "try again and it may work sometimes".....but I'll seriously get back on it later, as I'm currently into adding support for Far Cry (for Aimtrak, you can directly play it with your XInput device, you lucky man  ;D ! ) and removing the crosshair of this game

Edit : You wanted to play demul too, have you tested  ? Is everything working well with this emulator ? (you'll have BIG crosshair on GAME TEST MENU when checking for gun calibration in hod2 for example)

Wow! That's awesome if you can get Far Cry Paradise Lost working.  Is there anything you can't do? That game in dual mode would be an amazing addition to my light gun game collection.  I also look forward to your progress on Let's Go Island (when TeknoParrot 5.0 comes out ... that game also looks amazing) and Gundam Spirits of Zeon.  It's very probable that Gundam won't work in dual mode on a single screen since the original 2 player arcade game to my knowledge, was dual screened. That said, I thought I saw some game patches for single and dual screen mode so maybe it's possible.  Thanks again for all that you do.  I'm getting closer and closer to my 4 player arcade cabinet finally being done (hopefully in the next few months) and having all these light gun games in 2 player mode will make the arcade experience at home that much greater.

I'm running demul and  demul shooter on win10 with 2 Aimtraks. Everything is working great except, I'm getting some serious input lag on HOTD2. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a setting or fix? Thanks!

Wow! That's awesome if you can get Far Cry Paradise Lost working.
For this one the way will be different different, you will be required to install a small driver so that I can emulate an Xbox360 controller for each Aimtrak.
No exe or memory hacking though, it's simpler for me...I don't like this method very much but so far it's working. I just need to wrap it on a "user friendly" way to install for everyone.

Is there anything you can't do?
Unfortunatelly I'm not god  :D
For Blue Estate, even if I'm now now able to simulate an X360 gamepad to activate the 2nd player, I've never found how the game handles axis inputs ...
And simply simulating a joystick is not working as the game is using it with "relative positionning"

I also look forward to your progress on Let's Go Island (when TeknoParrot 5.0 comes out ... that game also looks amazing)
His Last tweet is about taking time to add a lot of input libraries to the next release (0.5)
Let's hope RawInput will be added natively !

and Gundam Spirits of Zeon.  It's very probable that Gundam won't work in dual mode on a single screen since the original 2 player arcade game to my knowledge, was dual screened. That said, I thought I saw some game patches for single and dual screen mode so maybe it's possible.

There is no special setting :(
If you're having issue with one and only rom, you will have to look for some Windows10 tweaks (compatibility mode, etc...)

I had a quick go with Demul, but didn't get too far. I used RocketLauncher to streamline the loading process and it deleted all my controller setups, so while trying to set them up again I came across the fact that Demul does not detect the Wiimotes as controllers and therefore cannot accept their keypresses for start, etc... I never got in game to test out DemulShooter yet.

However, Demul does detect the Wiimotes if they emulate key presses, so once I've remapped them, I'll have another go.

Indeed, the dualscreen patch, used WITH the according version of "Game Loader All RH" app is running both players side-by-side  :)
Well, as if it's not hard enough, the loader doesn't support windowed mode for this game....not sure if I can find memory locations but I'll give a try

I have another game that might be worth adding to the Demulshooter collection. I didn't even know this game existed until today but Death Crimson 2 for the Dreamcast (using Demul) is a fun light gun game.  I guess it was only made in Japan.  The storyline is in Japanese but the in game options are in english.  The trick was setting controller to lightgun and not mouse.  The aimtrak was immediately recognized and that was that.  I had to calibrate in game which was a little buggy and glitchy but it eventually worked (at least enough to play :)). Not sure if this game would be worth adding to the Demulshooter collection, if you could get it working.  Figured i'd throw it out there.  I know you're working on like 4 other bigger and probably more important projects so this one can obviously go to the bottom of the priority list.  Thanks

Another game to keep on the radar.  Looks fun.  I don't believe it is out yet or if it will have raw input support.  I loved this game on the SNES.

teckno parrot 0.5 Changelog: - Fully customizable joystick controls, including wheel and pedals. - Unique bindable buttons for special things like: Sonic Item, Sega Racing Classic Gears/View Changes and Gun Trigger / Gun Controls. - Recoded most of the DirectInput listener, now code is much more easier to maintain and easier to read. - Fixed TONS of bugs around the program. - All test menus now should function correctly. - Controls are now much more fluid - Let's Go Island also has normal functionality even with 2 players. (Before was double speed) - Sega Sonic All-Stars Racing test menu now works.

Nice.  Do you know when the free public release will be available? Hopefully they eventually add raw input for easy 2 player mouse support for games like Lets go Island. Someone on Youtube who got Let's Go Island working also said the game has a native resolution of 1024x600, so you need supposedly need to create a custom resolution on your GPU control panel to make the game work at full screen.  Maybe they fixed that with TeknoParrot 0.5.  The Developer released this statement on Twitter yesterday "0.5 release tomorrow, got super artistic again and recoded bunch of stuff. Also Xinput delayed until 0.5/0.6." To my understanding Xinput in more friendly than Directinput. I wonder if Let's Go Island would work with the aimtraks if you changed the Aimtrak settings to joystick instead of mouse? Maybe at least until they added Xinput or even better Raw input. Can't wait to play this game in 2 player dual light gun mode.

He just said .05 might not be today as he found a bug in sega racing games. I also just asked about adding raw support so we will see what he says.

He also mentioned dream raiders and operation ghost are working, just need public dumps. So that will be nice!

Also lets go island works in full screen using All Games RH Loader 261. It just doesnt work that great using joysticks as guns. :-)

Yeah... not on the priority list for now....I'm not a fan of low-quality console railshooters (except from PS2 because of Time Crisis series, but I'm not the one who made lightguns possible on it) when we have such great arcades games. And this game is very very very bad  :D

This game is fun but in my opinion not made to be played with a lightgun, movements, jumps, shoot.....
Steam/Microsoft...I bet on XInput support for 2 Gamepad (Only local coop in this game, no online so they'll have to make this possible.) because there's no need for raw input.

He also mentioned dream raiders and operation ghost are working, just need public dumps. So that will be nice!

Yess, more games !! ;D

As for 2 players, let's see how it turns. I'll have a look when I'll be able to test it.
Sure...native raw input support is better than hacking into an emulator as it's actively developped
But in the worst scenario.....XInput is comming for it and I'm preparing DemulShooter for creating and simulating virtual Xbox360 controllers, so any XInput game will be supported
I'm just not fan of the method as it requires X360 drivers for Win7 and older, as well as another driver installation....it's less universal than memory hacking but hell...that's a lot easier  in the end

New update maybe for tomorrrow, I've nearly finished with Gundam : Spirit of Zeon ;)

Regarding Death Crimson 2, you're right, not the highest quality and it's a little choppy and buggy.

Regarding Wild Guns Reloaded, after I sent you the link I realized it was more than just the crosshair, so you're right that probably wouldn't be a good fit.

Can't wait for Gundam: Spirits of Zeon.

Thanks

5.0 is finally released for teknoparrot

Just started working on Let's Go Island.  I couldn't get the xbox 360 controllers to recognize yet.  The keyboard worked though, but then when I went into the test Menu calibration settings it wouldn't let me calibrate, therefore I couldn't control the cursor in game.  I'll keep fiddling with it.

I excute DumbJVSManager.exe and go setting and assign game's exe location and close, it says settings saved.
But when I try to start Let's go Island, it says cannot find game exe :(
Does not saved? what can I do?

You're supposed to use either DxWmd or GameLoader All RH 261 to load it.  I got it working in DxWmd but don't like it.  I tried Gameloader but don't know how to open it? When I click on it or the config file nothing happens.  Help?

I use All Game Loader RH, works well

For the loader you need to put the files into the actual game folder. When you open the config the first time it may open a txt file. change it to 1 for config and loader and save it. Then you can open the Config.exe and it should open. You may need to turn off UAC to run it.

Once the config is open click on the very last tab and then click the last option on the left from the bottom and that should change it to english.

What are your GameLoader settings to get Let's Go Island working? You get the xbox controller working?  Or maybe send me your TTX ini file, if you've already gotten it working? Thanks

Hi, when you have choosen your game location, do not close but extend the windows to the bottom and you will see a button "save settings"

This can be interresting, how did you run LGI with DxWnd ? I couldn't do it
It runs well with AllRh Loader but I can't get it on windowed mode and I can't look for memory location for Axis and buttons :(

Wow it worked!!  Thank you :D

On DumbJVSManager.exe you can choose your Joystick and map buttons
There's a bug though, you have to choose your joystick, SAVE and EXIT and then reload DumbJVSManager.exe and you'll be able to set keys
Couldn't make keyboard or mouse work with Let's Go Island

Tried with 2 X360 compatible joystick, works well but it lags with 1 controller, and lags like hell with 2

I hope we can play let's go island with aimtrak lighgun  ;)

6.2 update is here, added support for Gundam : Spirit of Zeon

I'll let you seek all information to install and run the game itself, you'll find it on the internet....There are 2 available patched "game.exe" :
- 1 to play 1P
- 1 to play 2P with both player side by side on the same screen
To play the Dual Screen exe, you'll have to use the Game Loader All RH utility

As for what I can do, it starts here. I did a lot of changed with this game :
- Remapped mouse buttons used by default (bazooka was right-click, now it's middle click as usually right-click is off-screen trigger for us, lightgun users.....)
- Added a Gundam tab on the GUI to enable some kind of "pedal-mode" for P1 or P2. With this hack the game will be played like Time Crisis series. People using older act labs gun updating their position only when pulling the trigger cannot play the original game without this hack (on arcade you're hide by just pointing the gun out of the screen). And as a fan of Time Crisis, I like it better this way :)
- And of course support 2P when playing the Dual Screen exe

As usual, everything I could think of is written in the README file

To remove the crosshairs : MEGA.NZ
Overwrite files in /data/images/ subdirectory

--------------
As for other games (work in prgress)
- Far Cry : I can enable 2P in it, but the game itself is really buggy and keep asking for a dongle every now and then. And even more often when you plug a second player so ...standby for now (unless someone has a solution)

-LEts go Island : As soon as I'll be able to run it in windowed mode to analyse it's memory, I'll be able to add support for it..

Regarding how I got DxWmd to run Let's Go Island, I'm at work right now so not in front of my gaming PC, but from what I remember I just had to set Path and Launch to the Let's go island RingW_F_safe.exe file and that was it.  I think the key was to hit run once after you create the LGI paths, wait for the error and then just leave DxWnd open.  You just leave DxWmd open and then in the TeknoParrot emulator you launch LGI and it should load the game from there.  It let me do both full screen and windowed mode.  I hope I'm making sense.

I wrote it in the readme, there is no need to run any calibration for any player. ;)

In fact, it's the first time I did not even go into the calibration menu...
But you can verify your aim in the test mode, yes, it's accurate (as opposed as silent hill test mode calibration)

Sounds great.  Thanks

TeknoParrot 0.51 is out.  A few bugs fixed.

Changes TeknoParrot 0.51 Public Build:
- Fixed a bug where joystick controls wouldn't work when not all joystick buttons weren't mapped.
- Fixed a bug where you could enter joystick mapping without setting a joystick.
- Added multiplier for Gun Cursor (Gun Multiplier in mapping) to make cursor move faster.
- Added support for reverse axis for wheels with reverse axis on Gas and Brake.
- Keyboard steering adding, very experimental.

Update on Let's Go Island & Raw Input support for TeknoParrot:

The TeknoParrot developer just tweated "noticed same lib I use for directinput has rawinput ... first must lock mouse inside window, then read rawinput data and smartly translate that to jvs ... it's not very simple. after player 1 done then player 2 is very easy to add for 2nd mouse."

Got Let's Go Island working in 2 player mode with 2 xbox 360 controllers.  The 0.52 update fixed a lot of the controller bugs.  I feel the movement multiplier set to 3 or 4 worked best for me regarding the cursors using the analog sticks.  Pretty fun game.  I used Dxwmd to launch in fullscreen.  Still working on launching in GameLoader but must be doing something wrong.  I wish they will improve the resolution to be more HD quality in the future. It sounds like Reaver is adding mouse support in the near future so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Edit: Got it loading in GameLoader ALL RH, but for some reason in game, the cursor is off and when I exit (by hitting esc.) it takes like 3-5 minutes to exit GameLoader.  DxWmd seems smoother and cleaner.

Well I guess it depend on hardware etc....
Yesterday I couldn't get it to run at all with dxwnd, whereas it worked flawlessly with game loader

I'll try again today with your method with dxwnd
Everytime I tried I ended with a black window and a "this program is not responding" error box when I click on it

All i did was open up dxwnd, click on add. Set both Path's Path to LGI_RingW_F_safe.exe and Launch path to LGI_RignW_F_Safe.exe.  Then clicked on fullscreen only box.  Clicked on Run in window box.  My Position settings in the main tab were X:70 Y:70 W:1680 H:1050 (I imagine this would depend on your monitor's resolution).  In the bottom right corner I clicked on the desktop circle. In video I set screen resolution to HDMI modes and clicked on both initial and max resolution. In input tab I clicked on correct mouse box, keep cursor within window and keep cursor fixed box.  Then clicked okay. At this point you click on the file you just created (probably titled "Let's Go Island") and select run. You'll get an error message (that's okay).  Then just leave DXWnd open, don't exit out (don't need to do anything with it moving forward other than just having Dxwnd open).  Then go back to Tecknoparrot emulator, set your settings, and load Let's Go Island and it should load up at that point.  Let me know if i'm not making sense.

Got Gundam working in dual screen mode.  Pretty damm cool.  Thanks for working on this.  Just a few questions.

1. How do you exit the game when not using GameLaucher? If i'm in dual screen using GameLauncher I just hit escape but when I'm in single screen mode and want to exit the game I have to go to task manager and force exit it.
2. How do you get crosshair working in dual mode on a single screen?  2 player doesn't have a crosshair or cursor.  Is there a wa to fix that?
3. How do you calibrate for player 2 in game menu? When you click on it, it just goes to a black screen. I can calibrate player 1 but not player 2 in single screen mode game menu options. I only ask because to me it seems player 2 in  single screen mode could use a little calibration (seems a little off).  Thanks
