Asteroids Cocktail Cabinet - Edge Connector Pins
« on: January 22, 2016, 12:52:37 pm »
I own an original Atari Asteroids cocktail cabinet. The power comes on. The monitor
has no video. The P1 and P2 buttons stay a solid red.

I see from this website (http://arcarc.xmission.com/Tech/Asteroid%20Tech/asteroidsrepair.html#P3) that it says  that:

3.* Problem: No video, P1 and P2 stay lit. No Game Play*
Cause: Connector to logic board not making good contact with the edge
fingers.

Fix: I used a pencil eraser to clean the fingers. I also noticed that the
pins inside the connector were worn and not making good contact. I used a
jewelers screwdriver to gently put a small bend in each pin. (I really
should replace all the pins!)

Can anyone recommend a site that sells the pins? I would love to replace them
but being an amateur I am having the hardest times figuring out what the
parts are called and the sizes.

Thanks in advance!

FWIW, I would replace the whole edge connector and not worry about the pins.
