Time Crisis 3 questions |

Slippyblade:
So I acquired a blown up pair of Time Crisis 3 cabs. The previous owner was moving it and swerved on the freeway, launching the cabs out the side of his truck. Needless to say, this didn't do good things to the cabs. Monitors exploded, wood shattered and collapsed. Still a lot of parts worth salvaging though. My primary question is in regards to the main units. They look like PC's... but upon closer inspection, they look like PlayStation 2s! The things literally have what looks like a PS2 memory card plugged into them and what looks like controller ports! Did they seriously just perma-mount a PS2 inside these cabinets? |
Howard_Casto:
I'm not familiar with the time crisis cabs specifically, but yeah, nearly every arcade game released in that time period is running on a suped up console or a Linux pc. F-Zero AX is running on modified gamecube hardware, for example. |
Slippyblade:
I'm gonna open the shell on one tonight and see if it will read one of my other PS2 games. |
Howard_Casto:
I doubt it will. Typically the arcade hardware is modified just enough so that home discs won't play. Or else nobody would buy upgrades to the arcade versions. |
BernoO:
http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=543 It says that every game has an slight modification...but you can try anyway :D As for the cabinets, will you try to restore them? |
