RIP Rip.

I didn't even realize he was (previously) still alive.

Robert Forster has passed away. That makes two people who passed away right after I watched Jackie Brown again (Sid Haig being the other).

Yeah, I was thinking about him recently, perhaps because of the Jackie Brown mention..... I saw that movie only a few/several months ago, the only Tarantino movie I much care for, and was thinking he looked rough in '97. Smoking all over his face. Still, he made close to 80, though I don't know his faculty status in the last ten years....oh ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, he had brain cancer......well. Anyways, not until I saw it again a couple/few years ago, I realized I knew him from 1980's Alligator (seen on TV in '81/2). I liked him.

He also just had a great role in El Camino, the new Breaking Bad movie on Netflix.

@Ginsu Victim: yes I found that out after reading an obituary, and watched the proffered clip. He seemed cogent. He was a good character actor. Emotional expression in the eyes conveys the heart of things, and he didn't have that. He wasn't 'big'. Like Nicholas Cage. Systemically dead-pan voice and no eye expression. Blech. I think his main fans are latter-day anime folks, for whom the blank stare is the be all/end all.....

PS: wasn't interested in Breaking Bad.

He was a very funny man.  Me and my friends would always come out of the bathroom and tell each other not to go in for about 35-45 minutes.

It was already announced HBO max ordered two seasons of the boondocks. Not sure how it will work without grandpa but it is a reboot so who knows.

That man worked on Sesame Street as Big Bird and Oscar every season since the first.  He only retired last year.  That's some dedication.

Oscar is my personal spirit animal.

Rene Auberjonois died a few days ago. Not a good year for the DS9 cast.

Also, in not dead celebrity news, Kirk Douglas just turned 103.

Yeah and for the less nerdy he was the tall white guy in Benson.  I guess those dreams of a DS9 reboot are dead.

in the book reboot series, he was replaced by Ro Laren (he did return later to DS9).... they could start a new reboot series without him.

They could... but SHOULD they?  The answer is no.  Nog you can probably do without, but no Odo is a bridge too far.....especially considering they'd probably never get Avery Brooks back.

Rush drummer Neil Peart

This one hurts. I listened to Rush all weekend after the news came out. (Not that I didn't listen to Rush a ton normally)

Yeah, they had apparently announced it on the radio just after lunch but I missed it. We have a radio in the work shop and I was like.... Damn, 3 Rush songs in a row? What's up with that?

Then they announced that he passed. Dang... Guess that's what's up with all the Rush. They played Rush all afternoon back to back.

Veteran wrestling legend La Parka has died from wrestling related injuries at the age 54.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/12/americas/mexican-wrestler-la-parka-dead-trnd/index.html

He was always one of my faves.

Edit: Wait a sec...

this wasn't the same guy who was La Parka in WCW.

I'm so confused.

RIP to whoever the AAA La Parka was.  :dizzy:

Katherine Johnson died at 101.  Local hero that I didn't learn ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- about in school, which is disappointing as there are only a few West Virginians that have done anything of merit.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/24/science/katherine-johnson-dead.html

Also of bizarre note is the fact that the press keeps using these weird photos that were taken when she got the medal of freedom that make her look like a white lady.  She's black, which makes her story 10 times as awesome imho.  Watch hidden figures.... while not always historically accurate, it's a good flick.
