George A Romero, one of the great directors of the horror genre, has left us at age 77. Not many people can say they'd created a genre, but the modern zombie would not be as it is without Night of the Living Dead. He was working on his next film in the series when he died, an artist to the very end. I don't usually get emotional over celebrity deaths, but I'm writing this in tears. The man's work meant so much to me. Thank you, George. |

Damn. I guess no more "of the dead" movies. I really liked the way he snuck in social commentary into all of his films. It's a shame that horror directors always have some sort of stigma in Hollywood, because this guy should have a stack of Oscars by now. The original "Dead" trilogy in particular is right up there with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings in regards of being one of the best, most influential, set of films of all time. |
