Mel Brooks recently said they were working on a script for a sequel.
Gotta cash in while the opportunity is there.

The only thing he said about it was that it was tentatively called "The Search for More Money", but that was a joke from the original one.
I'm guessing not a lot has been done.

Eh.... I don't have much hope for that one.  Do a google search for Space Balls the animated series.  Yes it exists and yes it's so lame that it was buried soon after release.  The amount of love I have for Mel Brooks is immeasurable, but I think he's too old to write a decent script these days.  Also no John Candy.  The logical replacement would have been Chris Farley, but he's dead too.  Is Will Sasso dead yet?  Has he learned to be funny?

Mogs only live like 14 years.  Every human year is like 7 years to them.
Lonestar gets a new one from the shelter every so often.

Honestly I don't have a lot of hope for it either, but imagine all the new stuff from the prequels they could parody.

Half the cast is dead... joan rivers, john candy, dom deloiuse, heck even mel brooks is half gone. I watched the spaceballs cartoon when it was on netflix and I was expecting something for the kids. It was terrible, but in a way that added to the entertainment. I give it just enough stars to watch it.

Yeah and don't forget that Rick Moranis is officially retired from acting.  He made a metric ton off of those Honey I Shrunk the Kids films and decided to no longer act soon after.  So the star of the show won't return either.
