Well I decided to convert my mame machine into a dedicated OutRun 2 SP Arcade machine , using Arcade Components.....

So the search began for a chihiro Type 3 , which I got with a power supply and a I/O Board...

when I tried testing the system, the I/O Board was faulty...So I got one off Mo @ Videotronics....

I got a Compact Flash Card and a IDE to compact flash adapter from Ebay and put Outrun 2 SP on there....

I updated the firmware of the chihiro using an update from DarkSoft and netbooted it to the Chihiro....This allowed any compact flash to work on the chihiro...

I got a Zero Pic chip off Terry (BBZ149)

So I ordered a load of connectors from RS:

I then made up the complete loom for Outrun 2 using a online manual...

At this point all was up and running using my model 2 dash which is now owned by Rich....

I got a Model 3 Dash off Ian....Cheers mate....I would love to have seen some of the folks faces when we were stripping the thing in the back of my van lol on a busy Saturday dinner time on a very busy car park lol

Just testing a few things in the cab:

Ive since tidied up the cabling and got a chihiro power extension and a midi Drive Board...

I got a Ferrari centre cap and Bolts and a vr sticker off muddy.....

Well today I connected up the Midi Drive board and filmed it live and its Alive.....

couple of videos

I got the Ferrari emblem the wrong way up lol...more like a donkey haha

So that's it for now....Outrun 2 SP Running in a Daytona USA 2 Cab....

I got some end plates for the foot plate , so decided to put some ribbed rubber matting on there.....ive seen it done like this on a few cabs , but cant remember where haha

I couldnt find the coach bolts to fit the foot plate, but arcade world sell these which do the trick perfectly....just need to cut them down....

After keep having to open up the cab to swap over the vga cable, power cables , i/o board usb cable , drive board cable, audio cables every time i wanted to swap between the chihro and the naomi 2.......I came up with a plan to automate it by just pressing a switch on the back of the cab....
i used a relay board to switch the usb and drive board cables...2 x 30 amp relays for the 3.3v and 5v feeds....and a vga auto switcher to switch the video and audio.....
the relays are switched by wiring the grounds through a on/off switch......and its working great.....
i will be powering down the cab , then switching the relays on or off.....that way there shouldnt be any arcing in the relays by switching them while the naomi power is live.....
