setting of dual 360 wheels in mame
« on: October 31, 2015, 07:45:43 am »
I feel like a newbie all over again (its been at least 10 years since I've setup spinners etc...)  Anways, running windows7 with an optipac.  Both wheels show up in windows and wheel 1 works in championship sprint.  Trouble i'm having is assigning both wheels inside the config menu (TAB).  I'm sure its a setting issue but if you try and assign a wheel to a player, it doesn't get recognized by the mame menu.  regular mouse gets picked up ok.

thoughts?

Is multi-mouse enabled in mame.ini?

Really though if it isn't, MAME should still be recognizing all mice, just not differentiating between them.

I've also had the TAB menu not pick up super low resolution encoder wheels.  We're talking 12 slots per revolution though.

Yeah multi mouse is enabled--I seem to recall having this issue way back in the day and went to analog+ mame as a result--I think I still have that build around here somewhere.

So I figured out a workaround in case anyone stumbles across this thread.  I just mapped player 2 to the y-axis of the same mouse as player 1.  Incidentally, I can get the mouse to show up in the mame control menu by really spinning it as hard as I can..I guess it must be a resolution issue..

Incidentally the wheels are originally from a 2 player championship sprint.  I drilled through the spot welds of the metal housing and transferred them to a blank wood panel.  I had to route out some holes for the optics to come through but these old atari wheels are built like tanks.
