That turned out really nice.  The drawer for accessories is a nice touch.

I’m not usually a fan of front drawers, but you pulled it off nice and it serves the right purpose. Very nice cabinet! Impressive... most impressive.

I doubted about the drawer for a long time, but I'm really glad I've included it since me and my kid use the controllers and light guns a lot and it's a good storage solution this way.

Where did you buy that foot pedal for games like Time Crisis; and does it plug into mic input or is it usb? Thanks

I bought the following things from arcadeworld.uk and arcadewinkel.nl (seller depending on price & availability):

- Coin door with two mechs
- 2x Sanwa ball top joystick
- player 1 and 2 startbuttons
- black admin buttons
- blue illuminated action buttons
- red illuminated action buttons
- i-pac 2 with wiring
- red T molding
- router T molding cutting bit
- 28 mm drill for button holes
- lock for the service door

I haven't got a definitive control panel layout yet, but I think I will go with eight action buttons for each player in case I might hookup my Xbox360 or PS4 in the future.

Did you purchase the coin door from Arcadeworld.co.uk? That was pretty expensive right? Looking for a nice coin door but 120 pounds + shipping from UK is quite a lot compared to the ones from Arcadewinkel.nl (who unfortunately have yellow buttons).
Nevermind, I just ordered a coin door from arcadeshop.de. :)

This is the pedal I bought, the Acorn FP-1, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acorn-FP-1-MIDI-Foot-Switch/dp/B003ZTV7B4

I simply cut of the jack connector and connected the wires to my button encoder/i-pac.

I bought the coin door with mech from arcadewinkel.nl. At that time it had the best price and availability compared to the other shops.

Hmm, it seems they only have the ones with the yellow return coin buttons (and out of stock).  Eventually the one from Arcadeshop.de is complete and with shipping only 5 euros more expensive.

Hello, Nice to spot a Dutchman in my search for a design for an arcade cabinet. I see it's been a while since you've been online on this forum, so I hope you see this post.

I want to build a similar cabinet. Only I strubble how high the control panel should be. How did you get to this height? 105 cm if I see it correctly? But 105 cm seems a bit high to me? I'm 1.87 tall so I want to do it a bit higher than standard. However, I also have to deal with the wife and children.

@Niels
I am building one based on your ideas.
I wonder how you wired the on/off switch to the computer.
How to proper shutdown and start the computer from the switch

The round red arcade button is wired to the power switch pins on the motherboard.
- Press this button and let the computer shut down before you turn off the main power switch. (the square lighted one)

If you set the computer BIOS to boot when power is restored, it will boot when you turn on the main power switch.
- If it won't automatically boot when you turn on the main power switch, press the round red arcade button.

power switch (will cut all power) and button to power on/off the computer (if PC is off, but main power switched on the marquee and button lights will stay lit).

Nicely done.

I like your control panel hinge choice and your accessory drawer is great.

I'm going to steal your idea for powering the PC on and off!

It's great to have so many people here with valuable input to help.

It is a great build.

If you combine the PC power on/off idea with a smartstrip, or a 5v relay, you can make the entire cab go on/off with a single button.

I was reading through your thread, learned some stuff, and noticed that you used your router to cut marquee plexi/acrylic sheet.

Did you know that you can cut acrylic sheet to size easily, with a box-cutter or craft knife and a straight edge (like a metal ruler, or even a piece of wood)?   :o

EDIT: First, leave the protective paper on until you are finished with the cutting.

Then just mark your line with a pencil and score the line with your knife. Carefully line up your ruler or other straight edge along the cut line, to guide your knife. Go over it 3-4+ times to make a proper impression. Don't press too heavy, otherwise you might bounce off the line.

Then carefully line-up the cut line against a straight edge with a drop - like a straight piece of wood about an inch high or more - and now clamp a piece of wood over the top, along the line. Then start gently pushing the plexi down, along and against the cut line, until it breaks. If you do it right, the plexi/acrylic will break neatly along the cut line.

EDIT: Note this only works right if you leave the paper on

Done right, will be as neat as your best router cut.

Use the same technique for cutting fibre-cement sheets and bathrooms tiles [but you will need something bigger than a craft knife - like a tile cutter/scorer or maybe a chisel)].
