Donkey Kong/DK2/Mario Bros cabinet
« on: October 07, 2015, 01:26:06 pm »
Hello, My name is Jeremy, and I am an arcade addict.

I have been about 4-5 years sober but I must confess I relapsed 2 nights ago.
I went to the dreaded craigslist and typed "arcade" in the search...

Now normally I'd be kicking myself in the ass but the result of this find is by far my favorite so far (except maybe for that free, working NeoGeo cabinet I picked up 2 blocks down).

This Dedicated DK, DK2 & Mario Bros cabinet is hands down, the cleanest cabinet I have ever owned. It is BRAND NEW and I cannot stop admiring its sexiness!
And for only $399??!!! No brainer, yes please!! I waited at that thrift store an hour before it opened to guarantee it would be mine.

I'm still trying to get used to the huge 25" screen. Also, the Mario Bros is played on a vertical and stretched oddly.
I do have an original DK in pieces that I have been restoring for maybe 8 years or so but I am still keeping this bad boy...

Anyone know anything about these?
It says it was made in 2005

Thanks guys!

Just saw that thread. I saw him walk in...
They actually opened the doors early for me as I asked one of the guys, right when I got there.
Crazy thing is, I haven't searched for cabs in a long time... This was fate for sure...

Btw: Is it a repro?

Kind of -- It was released by Namco after securing some of the Nintendo rights back in 2005 - they created a multi board with the 3 games on it along with a couple other machines ( PacMan 25th Anniversary, Ms. Pac/Galaga, Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition ) around the Pacman 25th anniversary.

It's a neat game. I believe there's a continue feature in Mario Bros. which is unique to this version. Does anybody know if this game is MAME? I remember looking for it a while ago, but couldn't find it.

Mario Bros has several Mame versions if that is what you were asking !
