I don't know if this article was posted before, but I read this the other day about how "Winners Don't Use drugs" came to be. https://www.inverse.com/article/5193-how-the-f-b-i-made-winners-don-t-use-drugs-the-arcade-motto-of-the-90s Interestingly, it was brought about by Bob Fay, who was director of the America Amusement Machine Association. He was an FBI agent in his prior career and still friends with the FBI director of public affairs. |

The whole thing likely never would have happened without that connection with the AAMA. |

Yeah, that was a real cute story and all but I think the effort had more to do with a dying industry trying to clean up its image of being a place for drug dealers to hang out while the owners laundered money. |

I was at a party a few years ago and one of the pot heads was wearing a tshirt from the local arcade which closed decades ago. As they smoked cigarettes and passed a bowl, they reminisced about all the time spent hanging out there. The fondness for the place was genuine and beyond anything I've ever heard from a collector, but my thought was "oh, they're the ones I'm always reading about ruining the arcade scene.....Yeah I can see that". |

Reminds of the green room in one of the places my band plays. All the bands that have played there have written stuff all over the walls of the room. Someone wrote "Only users lose drugs" ;D |
