Connecting a Pandoras Box 3 to a arcade cabinet
« on: December 05, 2015, 01:43:08 pm »
I'm trying to get my Pandoras Box 3 to work. Everything seems to be working, except the controls. The board powers up, and I get video but I'm trying to connect the Coin Up button for player 1 to register. It's the only button I have connected and it doesn't seem to do anything when I press it.

Do I need to wire up everything or anything else for this to work? Looking for tutorials and stuff online, but have come up mostly empty handed.

Before somebody starts posting links that run afoul of Rule 5, Matsadona posted this pinout here that should help.

Appreciate that.

I guess the question for me is, does anyone who's used one of these know if at a minimum, do I need more than Coin 1 plugged up? Like, will it not work unless I have the joysticks hooked up or something?

Spent some time on it and even broke out the manual.

I think I see the problem, but I'm not sure what the fix is. If I go into the I/O test menu, I can see that my joystick presses work and button 1 and 2 work. No coin or other buttons are working.

Found the damn coin up for player 1. I had to trace back pin 16, which is listed as the coin up button and it is but it's not in the main wire bundle for player 1. It's wired for a coin door. Wiring that up, and the rest of the controls picked up and all is well.

I really did think I had a broken unit - glad it's working.
