Raspberry Pi BYOAC Wiki page
« on: September 15, 2015, 11:04:37 pm »
Locke141 brought up the idea here of adding a Wiki page for RasPi.

There seems to be an explosion of people asking doing R-pi project. The Pi has a lot of options of emulations with more it seem popping up all the time. It may be useful to a list of R-pi related info in existing wiki pages or just start one for the R-pi.

A lost of OS images with a pref descriptions of the OS would be be useful if nothing else.

A list of know Front ends that work on the R-Pi would be nice as well.

This looks like a good idea that could develop into a good wiki page -- started this thread to consolidate your inputs and opinions since the options appear to be rapidly developing.   ;D

Anyone have a suggestion where this info would fit into the branching "tree" structure of the wiki as opposed to just making an orphan page that is hard to find?

There doesn't appear to be a category for computers or dev boards in Main Page list of Portal pages.

Software, Emulators & Utilities seems like the best fit. There is already a split by platform, it could forked Linux.

Where?  I don't see anything like that on the Software or Utilities pages.   :dizzy:

Closest I can find is the Operating system comparison page that is only linked to by the Old Contents/Index page.

Software, Emulators & Utilities seems like the best fit.
1. "Software, Emulators"  and "Utilities" are two different pages.

2. Both are about software.

3. There is a hardware Computer Components page that was mistakenly linked on the Software page under "Arcade, Console and Computer Emulators" -- we definitely need a better location for that link.
-----
What if we were to add a hardware portal page link to the "Main Arcade Cabinet Portals" part of the Main Page between "Software" and "Using consoles"?

The hardware portal page could include links to pages about:
- Computer Components (mentioned above)
- R-Pi
- TV stick
- Other dev boards?
- X-in-1 boards (Include "Rule 5" cautions about not linking or mentioning vendors that sell them) -- no sense in pretending that they don't exist, mention limitations and that they rip off the hard work of the MAME DEVs.

What name should we use for this hardware portal page that covers the "brains" of the cab?
- [Your suggestion here]   ;D
- Emulation Hardware
- Computer Hardware
- Computer Components (change the existing page linked above above to a portal page)
