I had an Atwater Cherry Stout a few weeks ago.  Thought it was one of the best things I ever tasted. Had four of them.  Then I looked up the calories.  560 per pint.

Yeah, the whole IPA thing is over around there thankfully.  The place close to my house makes very drinkable stuff.
I drive new bartenders crazy by ordering stuff by what it actually is.
"I'll have a wheat beer and the chicken sandwich"
They go to the POS machine, don't see anything labeled "chicken sandwich" and then look at the menu.
Hardly any of the goofy names make enough of a reference to the actual food that you could figure it out.

The area where I live is so saturated with micro-brews that I view the beer no differently than anything else on the menu.
It's no different than two places selling cheeseburgers.  One might be better than the other, but really it's just a cheeseburger.
If I'm in the mood for a cheeseburger, I can get one at either place.  I'm not ordering one based on it having a clever name.

EDIT:  The beer pictured above was brought to me by a friend who absolutely buys beer based on clever names.
The last thing he brought me was some kind of "walking dead" beer.

Craft beers becoming too "mainstream" for you?  You loved it when only you and a handful of others knew about it, but now that everyone's doing it, it's "so yesterday".. ?

He's out-hipster'd himself!
pbj:
I have accepted the fact I am a bona fide hipster and come to peace with it long ago.

After 10 years of craft beers, I'd just like some regular stuff for a change.  I was in a total dump of a bar last week and the taps were Bud Light, Miller Light, and Sam Adams Rebel IPA.  I mean, wtf.  What do you even do with that.  That's "never mind, I'd rather have some water" territory.

The craze will end, the market will normalize.  Remnants of the improved tastes and enhanced selections will remain.  We're all better off for the experience.  Don't worry, your grubby flyover town will be right there with me in 3-4 years.
