I'll be sure to avoid. --- End quote --- Whirlpool. A buddy who owns an appliance repair place told me they have the lowest rate of failure of all brands. Guess I just have crap luck. There's a "lemon" clause in the policy that says if I have to have it repaired too much they will just replace the whole thing, but I will have to read the fine print to find out if I can qualify. In that case, yes, it would be chufftastic, but even this repair was a pain in the butt to arrange and they told me outright if the guy shows up and it's something I could fix on my own, they will charge me for it. That's what happened with the LG dryer I bought not too long ago.. Needed a second dryer (lots of laundry in my house, lol) and I wanted to get a steam feature. The one I picked out doesn't connect to the tap, it just has a reservoir you fill up. The salesman told me it's an advantage because I can use filtered water so I don't clog up the nozzles with our hard water (or get stinky clothes from the smelly water). So I did but it ended up filling up the dryer with a gallon of distilled water.. not exactly good. I called in and asked and they sent a repair guy out. He tore the thing apart and then called LG and they said "You HAVE to use tap water, the sensor that determines if water is flowing uses electricity, and hence you need the minerals in the water for it to work".. They tried to charge me for the visit but I told Sears to bill the salesman who told me to use filtered water. |

Her voice makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The bonus is she's damn fine. |

My July power bill was $475. 2,600 sq ft house with most of it closed up and thermostat on 78. --- End quote --- Word. I lived in a house for a couple of years and it was the same size. $475 for heating bills. --- End quote --- My power bill averaged $280 when I was married.. When I got divorced and kicked her out, even with kids living with me 50% of the time my power bill dropped to $70. ---smurfette--- sucked the energy right out of the house, lol. This past year with all 3 kids back at home full time, it crept up into the $200 range before I put the hammer down on lights and TV's being left on. However, in the summer up here in Montana at 3000 feet elevation it gets into the 100's often, and when you have 100+ days for weeks in a row, AC never stops.. My house was built in the 60's, and the exterior walls are 2x4, not 2x6, and the main living space is all vaulted ceilings with little insulation, so yeah, the bill jumps up to $300. But gas is separate, and in the winter it hits around $300, in the summer it's only $20-25 but I use budget billing so it's around $100 every month. Water is also separate, and that's up to around $60 because they took $10 per month off property taxes and moved it to the water bill (sewage tax) so the politicians could say "See, we lowered your taxes!". Irony is the taxes went down an average of $70 per year, but water bills went up $10 per MONTH. All in, I average around $300 per month, upwards of $450 for a 2500 sq ft house (2800 if you count the game room, but that's well insulated and even if the AC and heat are running it barely uses $15 per month). Add the $200 cable bill and things get a little ugly.. Oh, the city just passed a new ordinance to re-evaluate home values for taxes every 2 years. Nearly everyone in our city saw a mil hike of over 20%. Try telling the bank or the realtor your house is worth 20% more this year compared to last year, lol. See, the school district just got a 250 million dollar mil levy passed 2 years ago and are already coming up short after spending it all on new schools (now they want more teachers, which they didn't tell all the idiots who voted for the mil that it wasn't included), and then last year they tried to pass a new mil for more law enforcement and a new jail, which failed. So they just increased the value of everyone's home by 20% and they got the extra money they wanted. Brilliant huh.. |

I started as a restauran accountant, and then moved on to a staff accountant. Was there for 5 years or so. You were there in Eden Prairie? I worked for Kathy Schmieg as a staff accountant. I remember a lot of people from there. Still have some friends. --- End quote --- I started after the move to Eagan. Been with the company almost 10 years. I bet we know a lot of the same people. Kathi is still here, and probably only because she knows everything accounting related like the back of her hand. She is too valuable. Jim Bisek is a survivor as well. Ron Johnson and Linda Raw just got let go, I am guessing you remember them. I come from the payroll dept. When I started, the company had grown quite a bit in size before things got hard. Weathered two bankruptcies, but this has been much harder to deal with. The people here are good, I hate seeing this all happen. --- End quote --- Yep..knew both Jim and Linda...what about Brad Thill and Tye Card? |
