San Antonio must be waiving taxes or something because the current owners sure don't have much of a physical presence there. Oh well, another one to add to the 'weird companies in San Antonio' list alongside that multinational cult compound. |

Thanks guys! I appreciate the support! --- Quote from: pbj on August 17, 2015, 09:21:01 am ---Oh well, another one to add to the 'weird companies in San Antonio' list alongside that multinational cult compound. --- End quote --- Is that the place where the old men were marrying the children or is this something else? |

Eh, it was some odd woman run ostensibly christian thing. They had an unmarked road going back to their compound that was guarded by an off duty police officer 24/7. Very secure fencing. Got around the cop once by cutting through some brush and there was a big locked gate with their logo on it and nothing else. Couldn't really see much from the gate. Members were expected to spend at least a week a year at the compound. They used to house a bunch of African kids there but have since moved that operation to another state. Who knows... maybe it was some run of the mill 'spread the gospel' thing but it felt very secretive out there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_Study_Fellowship |

Yeah, hard to say when they live in a guarded fort. Those "other" groups are out there. When my wife was a teen, she got roped into some camping trip run by a "Bible study group", it turned out to be pretty culty. The first night around a campfire she was asked to share some of her views. They didn't meet up with their specific views, so the group leader started loudly wailing and crying, between sobs she said she was crying in sorrow because her soul was damned forever for not accepting their groups beliefs. Immediately everyone else in the group stopped being nice, openly shunned her and told she was a horrible person unless joined them and agreed to their "code of virtues". |
