HaRuMaN:
While George Brazil probably isn't the cheapest, their service has always been top notch.  We've had the same technician for the last 6 years.  I called him 4:30pm Tuesday, he was at our house about 8:30.  New AC getting installed today.  10 year warranty, parts & labor.
BadMouth:
It's not entirely unexpected, but the fact that the main support beam holding up the house I just bought is literally half as strong as it should be is cramping my chuff.
A structural engineer has already hashed out the details.  A qualified contractor (key word qualified) looked at it and said he could get to it in a few weeks, but he hasn't gotten back to me with the price quote yet.
It's not going to be completely budget busting (at least I don't think so), but it's going to delay other parts of the renovation for a few months while I make up the shortfall.

pbj:
Duct tape some 2x4s to it and you'll be fine.

Aside from tens of thousands in medical work so far this year, my right hand being somewhat useless and looking like it won't be back to "normal" for at least a few more months, dozens of painful injections in my back, and the consequential weight gain that comes from being unable to get meaningful exercise,  I have little to complain about.  Well, I could complain about the massive checks I will have to write for my daughter's college education, but while that means about $12k per year less chuff (pretty much 100% of my chuff-get), I have to be thankful that I don't have to borrow it.
