That's something I'm going to look into. Not sure if the to Base camp is in the cards but to the base should be. I'll start researching after I find a home, a nanny, and a job.

So, missionary work?  Teaching kids English?  Medical care?  Tell us envious people what brings an American family to Nepal.

Definitely. Not meaning to pry. I've known a few people that were expats. One worked for Nokia. Moved all over Europe and has lived in China the last 5 years. Definitely a different lifestyle.

About tools and stuff, you just sell everything and rebuy when you get there, or do you move it all? That's one big thing that's kept me from it. I like having a base camp :)

My wife works for a large International NGO that has a religious affiliation but strictly does not proselytize, even a little. My wife is not even a member of of the religion that the NGO is affiliated with. They also have a very strict non discriminations policy.

It depends on your organizations. Many employers will give you a shipment, ours was big enough for all our stuff. Fortunately all of our stuff is currently in storage back in Dar as it is unclear whether this process is going to be for a few years or a few months. If things work out then our stuff will be shipped here, if not then it will go off to where ever we end up.
