I was being flippant but I thought it was more productive than saying its ugly and unnecessary.

Don't take it personal I'm not a client you're trying to sell it to, nor does everyone agree with me, I'm just a geek on a message board with an opinion that I would hope other builders would consider when building their own.

Good luck with completing your build, I'm interested in seeing the whole thing.

wow, I just wrote a reply about control panel art suggestions but then I noticed that it was actually finished. I like the feel of the control panel but would have made some changes. Since it's done my points are moot though. Keep working away on that side art - personally I don't like the clown image that you have chosen but you have a connection to it that I don't. Cheers and good luck with the rest of the build.

Things I would change :

- the black buttons IMHO are a bit too much. I would replace them with black/red buttons, so that they have the colors of the trackball, which would result in a more consistent look. IMHO the black   buttons just look out of place.

- the yellow bat-top also looks out of place. I would replace it with a black one, or while we are at it, change all three to red to go with the trackball, black/red buttons.

- the white player 1/2 buttons. I would replace them with yellow ones, buy some decals (player 1/2) and put those on the yellow buttons.

A quick and dirty comparison between CP with black buttons and CP with black/red buttons :

Now imagine the bat-tops being red and the white buttons being yellow and you would get a more consistent look.

I actually 100% agree with all of that^^ all of the buttons and joysticks are parts I already had so I figured why spend money at this second if I can put it together for now. But I for sure intend to basically do exactly what you suggested.

Because once it's put together and playable it's highly unlikely that sometime later you want to dismantle the CP, put new buttons in and rewire the whole thing ?  ;D

Well in that case, I guess the most harm done to the world is that I'm playing arcade games with black buttons and a yellow joystick...........

Honestly tho of course I agree with you on that. But there really was no reason to spend money on new joys and buttons this week when I could do other things with that money. The cp is up and fully functioning and I can direct that money towards a
Monitor or anything else I need.

with that being said.. What dismantling and rewiring are you thinking of...? I pop off the micro switch, Pop out the button and replace with new one.. It would take approx 10 minutes or less to change every button and joy stick.... I don't see much work in that. But I digress.

Controls placement aside, I think the artwork actually looks pretty good.

I can't comment on your artwork because I have impaired judgment.

Thread was TLDR.

Why is there a joystick way up in front of the trackball.  Have fun with that.

Ive had plenty fun on it.  I dont understand whats so unbelievable about the ease of use of this setup..Ive used this exact setup on a pedestal and there has never been an issue with the setup. *surprise* i actually put some thought into it, to achieve what I needed while keeping it comfortable. The bottom joystick you mentioned is a dedicated 4 way setup with more than ample room for play which. I simply enjoy the dedicated 4 way and the placement look.. no problem ever using it.. The trackball is easily used for games i play, and while you cant ramp up and slam it like a golden tee goliath, i dont play those games much, and if i did, i sacrifice a side handed roll.. not really the end of the world for being able to play my favorites like crystal castles and such. Most my trackball games arent bowling/golf based slammers. Again, zero problem with playability on the trackball.. and the spinner, well again plenty of room and not much more you need than a spinner. The cp is big enough, and ive used this exact same set up. And ive never had one out of dozens of people play it have any issue with any game. I understand peoples view of the setup of art, but as the person that uses this setup with many other people, im just saying the playability and comfortability seems nearly flawless for its own cause. Yes there are minor sacrifices of an ideal setup for certain games, but i get to play all my favorite spinner classics which are actually a quite a few.. i get to jam out on my trackball games as well as enjoy bowling and other trackball games with multiplayers, and also use it as a mouse. Most of the parts i already had, so i had no reason to not include a track ball or other things i want and use.  Thank you to all productive words good and bad.. I just dont really understand the one lined hater stuff. Im gonna rock out on some robotron and try and match some of these master scores im seeing :)
