Anyone get decent speeds w/wild riders in demul?
« on: July 20, 2015, 11:42:07 pm »
I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't run it 100% but other people can. I have an i5-3750K @ 4.4ghz and gtx 970 but the game keeps pausing during emulation. Is there some setting I have missed? Does anyone have it running smoothly and if so, what are the specs of your computer?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: on second thought, all games are running kind of choppier than expected. Even the Naomi2 intro screen is choppy. I tested Maximum Speed on the atomiswave and I don't remember it being that choppy on my other pc... placebo

a)make sure there isnt other demul running in the background is task manager. The Alpha is not shutting down properly and its leave cpu hogs in the background.

b)Wild Riders is one the most intense games for naomi, the cell shading and ADHD worth of stuff on the screen makes it one of the slowest games. im getting a lot better performance using the DX11ng plugin but even pushing my i5-4690k to 4.3, im still getting a ton of slowdowns especially when theres a lot to draw on screen.

Thanks! That was immensely helpful info. Yeah I noticed the demuls running in the background, which is a shame seeing as how they still take up quite a bit of CPU.
I was watching a video on youtube yesterday which looked much faster than what I was seeing on my machine so I was confused -- turns out it's probably just because they had reduced their visible layers to 8 () but even they had some slowdowns.

I hadn't tried it on my other rig machine (it's not hooked up right now) and I was on a new ("new") computer with a new graphics card so with all of those moving variables I wasn't sure if I was doing anything wrong.

hmm changing it to 8 layer def made a difference. still far from perfect but, better than what you saw in the vid. Ive got a new videocard coming too, hopefully that improves it
