How to rotate images?
« on: July 21, 2015, 06:03:12 am »
Can some one pleas show me how to rotate an image in when I post?

I have many times tried to post images that are right side up on my PC but post sideways. I have tried to composite by rotating the offending pic's in the opposite directions and saving but that does not seem to work.

Here is an example.

You need to rotate it on your lical machine before upload. Just edit with ms paint and resave it

This is an issue with the forum not reading orientation exif data on image attachments. I already made a thread about it here in the forum/website discussion.

99% of the time I'm on a mac, I-phone or less often a linux PC and rarely on windows. How ever as I said above I did rotate it in page preview so it was 90 daggers in the other directions to the same result.

Thanks Malenko but I just solved it.

You need to rotate it out of alignment then change it back.  :banghead:

Incase any other non-widows users run in the this problem this is what I did.
  • Open imene in Preview
  • Rotate and save
  • Then rotate it back to where it was and re save

(It has occurred to me that in the past I may have tried to fix this issue on my Phone not on my Mac)

The rotation has nothing to do with platform. Just stop giving advice.

You did say that, and I did fail to read it. My apologies, bro. Glad you got it sorted.

I dont know for sure if this was orientation exif data related. Never said the issue was the platform, just that I dont know how to rotate on a MAC. Read gooder next time.

Your previous post mention using a different platforms.

The issue is this forum not reading exif data.

This post will risk me getting virtually "punched" but couldn't one just...

1. Use a free metadata scrubber to remove exif data before uploading

- or -

2. Use Photobucket to link externally. (I know this is generally frowned upon but it's just so easy)

*squints and gets ready for punching
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

1) Yes you could, In fact thats what in effect I think I did.

2) If you spend enough time here you'll find many pages that you once found useful now have all there image links broken.

COOL WE'RE DOING THE QUOTE GAME!

Not hard to put two and two together from the OP.

Op said PC as in personal computer, not Windows based PC. He even clarified this in this post:
99% of the time I'm on a mac, I-phone or less often a linux PC and rarely on windows

His "PC" is a MAC, when hes not on a MAC he using mobile or linux. I do not know how to rotate images on a Mac. I've never rotated images on *nix.  So this:

Never said the issue was the platform, just that I dont know how to rotate on a MAC. Read gooder next time.
Is a valid response.

You are bitching about the forum not reading exif data, Im saying I dont know how to rotate images on OSX, and your brain is mushing them into the same discussion for some reason. I was just makes a "OSX sucks" jab at him and you try to hit me in the face with your "exif data" boner.
Read gooder next time. (see I can bold stuffs too!)
